Council Meeting August 5, 2024 Page 2 Turtle Creek Borough regular monthly Council Meeting, held on August 5, 2024, was called to order by Vice-President Max Spencer who led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: President Bianchi - absent Mr. Estocin = absent Ms. Henkel = present Mr. Nolan = present Solicitor - present Mr. Sanker = present Mr. Spencer - present Mr. King - present Mayor Forgie = present by phone Approval of the July 2024 minutes: Motion Ms. Henkel, Mr. Sanker approving the July 2024 minutes as submitted. Motion carried. Correspondence: None Citizens Report: Ron Gehry-1208 Chestnut Street asked if Council has made a decision on speed bumps for Chestnut Street. The committee is still looking into traffic calming. The committee is creating guidelines and Mr. Gentry stated he talked to the school about the weeds on their property. If the school doesn't remove the weeds the code enforcement to have some type of deterrence. will be notified. Committee Reports: Ms. Henkel- None Mr. King- None Mr. Nolan- None Page 3 Mr. Sanker- None Mr. Spencer- Asking council to consider a conditional full time police officer position to Rose Mizak at the rate of $28.85 to start on September 1, 2024. The condition is that she must pass all the pre-employment requirements. Motion Mr. Nolan, Mr. King approving the condition full time police position to Rose Mizak at $28.85, passing all pre-employment requirements. Motion carried. Mayor Forgie- Thanked Council for hiring Ms. Mizak, which now the department has 7 fulltime and 2 part time officers. A grant was obtained for new AED machines from Eastern Area Pre-Hospital and UPMC. Training will be provided on the use of the AED machine. Officer Brian Neff has completed the training to become a firearms instructor. Starting next Monday I will return to office hours. Thanked Chief McCaul for all his hard work.
