BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings werel held on February 27,2023 in] Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT Bryon Reed Jeffrey Hausman PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY ABSENT OTHERS Daniel Stevens VISITORS Nichole Frable, Justin Frable Kris Burek, Rob Reph Jeremy Henry, Krystall Borman Kevin Borman Thomas Bartholomew Joseph Wechsler Justin Gross Jeffrey Hausman = Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed and discussed a quote from Szoke Brothers, Inc. for the Maple Spring drain grate. Discussion on inclusion in grant application. Manager Stevens stated b. The committee discussed the fire truck tires purchased for ladder truck. Councilor Hausman stated that the old tires from the fire department and the police department are normally given back to the borough and used as backup for an emergency. Councilor Hausman suggested talking with the fire chiefand explaining that the used tires must be returned to the Borough. Councilor Reed stressed the need to shop around and use COSTARS. Councilor Hausman would like Manager Stevens to contact the fire chief The committee discussed which streets to apply for in this year's CDBG grant - April 17th deadline. Manager Stevens stated that Factory Street would be a possibility in the future; however, this is contingent upon the bridge. Several other possible streets were discussed. Manager Stevens will provide a list of streets for the next regular council that this is already included in the grant application. and let him know that tires must be returned. agenda. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee continued a discussion of possibility of hiring a floater for the sewer plant and highway. The floater would have to obtain, or have, a sewer operator license. This willl be discussed in executive session due to several personal issues. b. Manager Stevens stated that the digester lid removal project is moving along. Manager Stevens added they 29,000 gallons were pumped out by Biros, and the lids is almost completely removed. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. 1 C. WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE 1. Committee Member Discussion: Bryon Reed - Chairman; Members: Jeffrey Hausman, Joseph Wechsler a. The committee reviewed a quote from LB Water for 2 new readers, 2 tablets and software for reading water meters. Manager Stevens stated that the guns and software are wearing out and very outdated. The new equipment could be used with new meters. Councilor Reed would like this placed on the next regular council agenda. b. Update on the AutoCon project. Justin Gross stated that Lehigh Engineering issued a Update on new generator. Manager Stevens stated that the generator is in place and they notice to award to the contractor on February 22nd, 2023. are waiting for the gas company to bring the tanks.
