BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings were. held on April 24, 2023 inl Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT Thomas Bartholomew Joseph Wechsler-via phone Bryon Reed Jeffrey Hausman A. HIGHWAY ABSENT OTHERS Justin Gross Daniel Stevens Mayor Schoch VISITORS Ashley King Eric King Jeffrey Hausman - Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Discussion and update on Franklin Street CDBG project. Justin Gross informed the committee the curb cuts and sidewalk work is done. Road work is supposed to beginning b. Discussion and update on South Street CDBG projects. Justin Gross stated that Lisa now has the project and is finishing up the revisions. There were changes based on PennDOT. Originally, they were to do the 2 ADA ramps at the intersection at Main Street, but now PennDOT will be doing that. That will leave more: money to do paving Update on generator for maintenance building (installation scheduled for April 26, 2023). Manager Stevens stated that the gas line has been in for a few weeks. Kromer d. Update on CDBG submission for 2023. Justin Gross stated that the CDBG applications Being no further questions from the committee members, and so the Highway Committee Meeting (weather permitting) around the first week of May. and goi further towards Fairview Ave. will come that day to hook up the generator to the gas line. went in on March 29th. was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler- - Chairman; Members: Bryon Reed, Jeffrey Hausman 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Update on digester lid removal project. Councilor Wechsler stated they are almost completed. Manager Stevens added that the only thing is they have to do is fix the grass, and there are other small issues which the engineer will put on aj punch list. b. Discussion on trickling filters. Councilor Wechsler stated that it is time to look for a grant to cover the trickling filters. Manager Stevens stated we can look at a small water and sewer grant when they come up. The cost from the previous study was over $400,000.00 per filter. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. 1 C. V WATERISPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE 1. Committee Member Discussion: Bryon Reed- - Chairman; Members: Jeffrey Hausman, Joseph Wechsler a. Update on the AutoCon project. Justin Gross stated they still have not gotten back the notice of award paper work. A meeting is set up for May 3rd with the subcontractors. Thisi isi not a grant sO there are: no grant specifications or requirements. b. Update on new generator for wells #5 and #6. Manager Stevens stated the generator is up and running and has been tested. The only other thing left is the new meter base Information on water meters. A meeting will be scheduled to obtain further information must bei installed when it is available. on the water meters. Being no further questions from the committee members, and sO the Water/Special Sewer Committee Meeting was adjourned. D. INFORMATINAL ITEMS: Tuesday, April 25, 2023. PUBLIC COMMENT: Justin Gross informed the committee that the Slate Heritage Trail construction will be starting on Eric King - 336 First Street. Signed in and was recognized to speak. Eric asked if there was any update on obtaining estimates for Chestnut Alley. Manager Stevens stated he is looking at estimate and had Mike from Walnutport out to look at it. Looking at outside contractors, or ifit can be done in-house. Bruce George Paving willl be contacted when he isi ini town for the trail project. E.
