Monthly Meeting of Summerhill Borough Council Meeting Minutes January 2, 2024 Call to Order: The regular monthly meeting of Summerhill Borough Council was held on Tuesday, January 2th, 2024. Council President Becky Templeton called the meeting to order at 1915, and the Pledge of Allegiance wasi recited during the reorganization meeting. Attendance: Council Present: President Becky Templeton, Vice-President Russell Jones, Mayor Eric Miller, Absent: Danielle Ritchey, Borough Secretary Janice. Anderson, Brad Bodenschatz. Others Present: Karmen Baumgardner, Tax collector/Electric ecretary/Ireasurer. Matt Penatzer, Ray Penatzer, and Joni Trovato. Visitors: NONE Approval of minutes: Reviewed the December minutes. Motion by Ray Penatzer to accept the December minutes. Second by Joni Trovato. Motion carried. Approval of financial statements/balance sheet: Balance sheet: no report. Will discuss the year-end financial statement next month due to not all information available. CD expiring next month. Becky will obtain renewal paperwork for next month. Approval of payment of bills: Motion by Russ Jones to approve the payment ofbills. Second by Matt Penatzer. Motion carried. Fund Transfers: 2024 Budget: ori issues. Correspondence: Body agreed not needed this month. -Dog Warden cost of $400/year added toi intergovermental expenditures. No further discussion -Forest Hills Municipal Authority: No report. -Laurel Municipal Inspection: Main street complaint was assessed. -Croyle Township Police Report: No reports available. Summerhill Fire Department yearly report: 15 fire incidents occurred in Summerhill Borough in 2023. Old Business: at this time. Delinquent light accounts: Karmen reported 3 delinquents at this time. No further action needed -Electrician update: NONE. -Fence update: Building permit has been applied for. Still need to contact the Washko's, Wasnick's, Rolla's, and Ferchalk's to see ifthey want fencing along their property/creek lines, Becky volunteered. -No update from sidewalk grant, it was submitted. Still need someone toj put job on social media. -Newsletter: No update. Tabled till next meeting. -Good citizen award: No update. Tabled till next meeting. -No applicants for street Commissioner. Russ reported that Randy Smay Sr. has been doing well. -Russ also reported he has not yet heard back from Brown Construction on the wall bid. Will report back next month with other contractor quotes. He will also be obtaining epoxy quotes for truck bay floor and 3 new doors (two at boro bldg, one at concession stand). -Russ advised the new fire alarm system (wireless) has been updated. We can cancel our Verizon system and phone line #5352. Motion to cancel the phone line by Russ Jones. New Business: -Penn Installations has requested ai new concrete barricade placed against the side ofthe storage trailer. Russ advised the cost for this will be $994.00 which includes delivery.
