BOROUGH OF SLATINGTON The Water, Sewer/Solid Waste, and Highway Committee Workshop Meetings werel held on October 23,2 2023 in Municipal Building, 125 South Walnut Street, Slatington, PA. The meeting was called to order by President Bartholomew at 6:30 PM with the following in attendance: PRESENT Thomas Bartholomew Joseph Wechsler-via phone Bryon Reed Jeffrey Hausman PUBLIC COMMENT: None A. HIGHWAY ABSENT Jeralyn Schoch OTHERS Daniel Stevens Justin Gross VISITORS Kris Burek Jeffrey Hausman = Chairman; Members: Joseph Wechsler, Bryon Reed 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. Manager Stevens stated that this line will be bored under the roadway without any disturbance to the macadam. The committee approved the Verizon line on Sunrise b. Request from So. Walnut Street Bridge project for temporary parking along Factory Street. PennDOT did not send a representative to the meeting. Justin Gross stated that temporary parking cannot be done on Factory Street. Manager Stevens provided a map marked with all the properties that will get a temporary construction easement, except for the one where they are taking the property. These residents will temporarily lose their parking. The committee discussed possible parking locations for these residents. Discussion and update on South Street CDBG. Justin Gross informed the committee that on South Street, between Main and Second Street, the north side will be done this week; south side was done last week. Justin added that it will all be cleaned up and the d. Update on two H0 and Small Water and Sewer grants. Manager Stevens stated that he had spoken with State Senator Coleman and their office is trying to prioritize them. Lane. binder will be down in time for the parade. There is no new information on the status oft the 3 grants. Being no further questions from the committee members, and sO the Highway Committee Meeting was adjourned. B. SEWER Joseph Wechsler- - Chairman; Members: Bryon Reed, Jeffrey Hausman 1. Committee Member Discussion: a. The committee reviewed a quote from Parkson for brush subassembly and stainless screen for the Helsieve in the amount of$11,331.00 (less 10% discount ifordered before Thanksgiving) This will be billed in 2024. The committee agreed to place this on the next regular council agenda. Being no further questions from the committee members, the Sewer Committee meeting was adjourned. 1 C.V WATERSPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE 1. Committee Member Discussion: Bryon) Reed - Chairman; Members: Jeffrey Hausman, Joseph Wechsler a. Discuss water at fireman's statue. Manager Stevens informed the committee that they will have to dig up the shutoff to repair it. Councilor Hausman had suggested scheduling the work at night because the water to the area must be shut off for a couple ofhours. Plans will be discussed overt the winter to be ready for the spring. b. Update on the control panel project. Councilor Reed does not have any new Councilor Reed suggested purchasing our own shoring. President Bartholomew requested Manager Stevens to obtain quotes. Manager Stevens said hei is already checking on it.
