BOROUGH OF NEW FLORENCE MINUTES - FEBRUARY 19, 2019 President, Jim Moore called the regular meeting oft thel New Florence. Borough Council to order on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Municipal Building. ROLLCALL Members Present: Jim Moore Jeff Rager Ron Gyure Chuck O'Shell Gwen Dellett Kristen Teeter Kay Mayer Neva Gindlesperger, Mayor Brian Litzinger, Solicitor PUBLIC COMMENT Absent: Mary Strucaly Mr. Chuck Payne offered his services for the removal of abandoned and/or discarded appliances at no cost to the Borough. Mr. Payne will be notified of coming dates for Mrs. Tammy Stuart informed borough that the collapsed drain line along 9th Street is causing water to back up into her basement and they are. having to run sump pumps to eliminate. The borough will address the lie as soon as weather permits. Alyssa Rouser ofEADS delivered updated drawings for the Vine Street Project. Jeff Rager distributed charts he has prepared from the 2017 and 2018 monthly police reports. He asked council to review data for discussion at al later meeting. APPROVALOFI MINUTES No minutes available yet for the. January meeting. TREASURER'S REPORT Treasurers report for. January 2019 was reviewed. Kristen Teeter motioned to approve the report. Seconded by Chuck O'Shell. Motion passed. COMMITTEE REPORTS STREETS & DRAINS - Chuck O'Shell, Chair; Jeff Rager, Second Thei remedial drainage work on Furnace Lane appears to be helping. There was no standing water at Mr. Gamble's driveway during the last heavy rainstorm. SESQUICENTEMAIAL - Ron Gyure, Chair Ron Gyure reported that everything is moving forward nicely. The committee inquired about the use oft the Yellow Brick basement for possible vendors during the celebration. There was no objection from council. The next meeting will bel held at Stuart's Funeral Home on March 11,2019 at 6:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend. BUILDINGS, GROUNDS & EQUIPMENT-Ron Gyure, Chair; Kristen Teeter, Second Ron Gyure reported that the roof ofthe Development Committee's storage space next door was leaking. He and Mark Watt will check to see: ifthe roof or the contents need to be covered until repairs can be made. ORDINANCECOMPLIANCE- Kay Mayer, Chair; Jeff Rager, Second GRAN7S & FUNDING- Gwen Dellett, Chairperson MAYORS REPORT- Neva Gindlesperger Mayor Gindlesperger received al letter from Norfolk Southern: regarding aj proposed communications tower to be erected near the intersection ofNS right of way and Sassafras Street. Some discussion followed with many questions raised. The solicitor will draft aj response letter to NS. SOLICITORS, REPORT- JeffMiller, Solicitor Brian Litzinger presented the new ordinance for additional stop signs tol bei installed on Borough intersections. Chuck O'Shell motioned toj pass Ordinance 1 of2019.Ron Gyure seconded. Motion passed. Solicitor has filed ai tax exemption request on behalf oft the Borough for the Yellow Brick Basement space. OLD BUSINESS None NEW: BUSINESS Mark Watt is soliciting multiple bids for the cleanup work at 10th and Sassafras Streets (Robson property). Jeff Rager motioned to award a contract for the cleanup to the lowest bidder not to exceed $4,000.00. Seconded by Kay Mayer. Motion passed. The borough office computer and printer needs upgraded. Jeff Rager motioned to proceed with upgrades not to exceed $1,000.00 total. Seconded by Gwen Dellett. Motion passed. ADJOURN Jeff Rager made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Chuck O'Shell.
