198 New Eagle Borough Council met ini regular session on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at7:00 PM at the The meeting was called to order by President J. Fine with the following members of Council being present and answering to the call of the roll by the Secretary: S. Bobnar, J. Fine, J. Schmid and' W. Sherry. Also present were C. Fine, Mayor, T. Berggren, Solicitor and B. Churilla, Engineer. There beinga a State Representative, Bud Cook, spoke first about the Initiatives needed to get Rails to Trails started through the Mon' Valley, hinges and rides upon the creation ofa trail similar to the Montour Trail. The Training for the Trades initiative includes reclaiming the coal refused piles and creating connections for the private sector that will benefit the region. The Student initiative concerns getting students involved in the operations of their local government andi invested in the community. Chad Desantis spoke next and wanted to thank all EMS and Fire Department volunteers who worked around the clock over the weekend helping victims oft the heavy rains and flooding. S. Koch, acting Secretary read letter received from Diane Anthony resigning her position as Administrator, Secretary and Treasurer for New Eagle Borough. It was moved by W. Sherry and seconded by S. J.Schmid read the Public Works report for the month: Corrected water issues on' Walnut, temporary repair done on Morton St, repairing runoff and storm drain on Rush, repairing water runoff on Maple Ave, replace stop sign at Center & Maple, fixed water issues with pipe and stone on Chess St. to corner of Vine St., Handicapped: sign installed at 407 Short Dr., removed no parking signs at Center & Maple, Basin repaired at 456 4th Ave, treel limbs cut back on various streets, no left turn sign ordered for Sycamore, one way sign ordered for Maderia, basin on Memorial clean out. S. Bobnar nothing new to report for the Finance, Ambulance or Chamber. J. Fine nothing to report for the Ambulance, meets in September. 199 W. Sherry advised that mulch is needed around the playground at Maple Ave. C. Fine advised oft the sign ordered on Sycamore to not make al left hand turn on Main St., Grass and junk cars citations are being issed by Monongahela Police, once notice is given, person has 10 days to correct before being taken to the magistrate's office. While repairing 4564 4th Ave basin, back hoe operated by public works employees cracked driveway. Homeowner getting bids for repairs to be presented at September meeting. B. Churilla presented the bids for Maderia St. Improvement Project. It was moved by S. Bobnar and seconded by J. Schmid to the lowest reasonable bidder, Morgan Excavating for $74,367.70.
