Approved minutes - Regular Meeting Approved minutes - Special Meeting 7/3312034 Approved minutes - Special/Workshop Meeting Special Meeting July 23, 2024 7PM A Special Meeting of the Meyersdale Borough Council was called to order by President Mr. Ackerman, Mr. Baer, Mr. Baker, Mrs. Gnagey, Mr. Irwin, Mrs. Knieriem, Mr. Smith, Solicitor Valentine and Mayor Smith were present. Lieutenant Pritts was also present. Irwin, July 23, 2024 at 7PM. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the following: Highway Aid reimbursement Mini split heat/air for meeting room Alaska Street ATV Ordinance Mrs. Knieriem made the motion to move discussion on the ATV Ordinance to #1 in the order of topics. Mrs. Gnagey seconded. There was silence around the table, therefore a vote wasnot taken. President Irwin changed the ATV Ordinance to the first order of business. Each member of Council and the Mayor was given the opportunity to comment. Mayor Smith Ordinance. GUESTS: Mr. Jack Gauntz was present to voice his concerns about the Somerset County Commissioners decision to close the North Street bridge to pedestrian traffic. He was disappointed that the bridge was closed without the public being notified. He would like to see the bridge repaired and President Irwin reported that he spoke to a representative at the County and was informed this Mr. Brian Fochtman, Somerset County Commissioner was present and reported that the bridge Mr. Smith asked what happened to the Insurance monies that the County received. Commissioner Fochtman could not respond, due to the fact that he was not a County Commissioner at the time. After some discussion, Commissioner Fochtman was asked to provide a report on the status of the bridge at the next regular council meeting to be held August opened. was an oversight. was closed due to safety concerns. 13,2024. 2 ALASKA STREET DISCUSSION Discussion regarding this matter is to be held for executive session during the next regular meeting to be held on August 13, 2024. Representatives from organizations and land owners involved will be invited to attend the executive session. HIGHWAY AID REIMBURSEMENT Mr. Ackerman made the motion to reimburse the Highway Aid Fund $18,930.11 per the State audit finding. Mr. Baer seconded. Motion passed. Funds will be transferred from the General Fund to the Highway Aid Fund in order to be in compliance with the order. (See attached) Solicitor Valentine explained that quotes on the project were obtained and bids were not let, because it was anticipated that the quotes received would be under the bidding guidelines. Mr. Robertson saw the 7/9/2024 meeting posted on facebook, which showed Council interest in obtaining quote for the system. Mr. Smith made the motion to accept the quote from Prime Plumbing, Mr. Cody Robertson in the amount of $3,276.00. Mrs. Knieriem seconded. Motion passed. A down payment of $982.80 is required. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR THEALLEGHENIES GRANT Thel Borough Secretary was asked to provide Mrs. Gnagey with a copy oft the draft application for herreview prior to submittal.
