FOUNTAIN HILL BOROUGH COUNCIL  MINUTES March 23, 2022 7P.M.  The Council Meeting was. held in-person at Borough Hall. Council members present were: Ms. Jordan, Mr. Trotter, Mr. Blatt, Ms. Graham, and Mr. Trabel. Ms. Johnson, Mr. Rufe, and Mayor Johnson were absent. Also, in attendance were. Blatt Jr. Mayor Johnson  X X  X  X  :  -  Directing the Borough Manager on how to procèed with the Borough Pool and its  operation  Mr. Gratz reported on the Recreation Committee' meeting ofl March 7, 2022. Ms. Jordan stood in for Ms. Johnson who was unable to attend. Mr. McCandless of 1011 Pawnee Street stressed the financial burden that the operation ofa swimming pool places on the Borough. He also noted that fewer residents have been attending the Fountain Hill pool. He suggested to consider using the public space as a sprinkler park and a dog park instead. Based on the deliberations in the Recreation Committee the committee. recommended to permanently close the pool. Mr. Gratz asked to direct him either to follow the Recreation Committee's: recommendation to permanently close thej pool or, as an alternative, simply not open the pool this season. Mr. Quarry, the Public Works Supervisor, emphasized that the pool still needs tol be maintained asi if With regret, Council President Blatt asked for a motion to follow the Recreation Committee's recommendation and close the pool permanently as requested by Ms. Jordan.  it is open. However, after consulting with the Solicitor, Mr. Berger confirmed that the vote by that 3-2: margin was indeed: a valid action of Council. This decision was made after a community survey, a community  meeting, and an open recreation committee meeting.
