For the Playground, two (2) staffmembers arel hired and two (2) more are needed. The Playground staff organizes activities for children (mostly 16 and under) Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 P.M. Mayor Gifford encouraged Council members to assist the newly hired Playground staff as their time allows. ORDINANCES -1 none. MOTIONS Mr. Branco asked for ai motion to approve payment of$44,011.89 tol Barwis Construction for Payment Applications 4 & 51 related to Lechauweki Spring Park Phase 1&3. The payment will be reimbursed through the Lehigh County Conservation District DSA Grant 2018. DISCUSSION ITEMS (NEW BUSINESS) Police Staffing ChiefE Bachert The Police Chief asked for approval to hire two (2) new fully qualified and pre-certified part- time officers, Mr. Fehnel and Mr. Rothrock, to fill some oft the medical absences ofOfficers Schrey and Hochwarther and an additional month-long leave of absence of Officer Bringenberg. Part-time Officers' rates Inc order to attract more qualified part-time Police Officers out ofas small pool ofa available qualified candidates, the Police Chiefasked to consider a pay rate increase. He will submit comparable pay rate tables to the Police Committee for discussion. b. Officer Wood took on additional administrative duties during Officer Hochwarther's medical leave. ChiefE Bachert asked to compensate him for these additional duties. Memorial Day Celebration will be held May 24th, 2019 starting at 1P.M. at the Spiegel St. triangle. PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR - Discussion on Non Agenda Items Mr. Augustine Rosario on 710 Hertzog Avenue raised concerns about flooding ofb basements in his near neighborhood and questioned whether the flooding was caused by the recent construction at Lechauweki Springs Park. Mr. Branco pointed out that the increased rain over the past months raised the ground water table. He had already verified with the Borough Engineering Firm that there is no causal relationship between the Lechauweki Springs Park's construction and areal basement flooding.
