Sandi Walker made a motion to adopt the resolution as presented by the Director to amend the Burke County Early Voting Implementation Plan for the 2024 General Election as it relates Director Rhyne reported to the board on the SAFE Assessment conducted by Homeland Security for the board to use to implement security for the Board of Elections. Director Rhyne will go over the needs and put together a list of the most pressing needs. Immediate concerns recognized by the discussion was the need for cameras and a glass put up to separate the staff from visitors and a "panic button" in case of an emergency. The board members have a document of the assessment to go over. Sandi Walker made the motion to authorize Director Rhyne to address the immediate needs Director Rhyne presented the Absentee Ballot meeting schedule pursuant to memo 2020-25. Sandi Walker made a motion to approve the absentee ballot meeting schedule as presented Beverly Carlton made a motion to allow a board member from respective political parties to review voter ID exceptions on absentee ballots to be processed on the Monday at 2pm before Director Rhyne presented important dates for the general election; training schedules for poll workers, voting schedules, mailing and registration deadlines, and other election meetings for Director Rhyne gave the board members a proof of the new election pin to be given to Discussion was held on press releases for the general election season generated by the Board of Elections.
