HAMLET CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBERS ROOM 201 MAIN: STREET, HAMLET, NC 28345 TUESDAY,JUNE 18, 2024 6:00PM MINUTES  Governing Body Present: Mayor Mayor Pro-Tem Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member Staff Present: Interim City Manager Lane Bailey City Clerk Finance Director HRI Director  Amy Guinn Jessie McQueen Eddie Martin Oscar Sellers Maurice Stuart Abbie Covington  Heather Hawks Edna Miles Benital Mullis  Others Present: Chief Trey Goodwin, Chief Dennis Brown Mayor Guinn called the meeting to order at 6pm. 2. Adoption of Agenda  1. Call to Order  Council Member Sellers motioned to adopt the agenda. Council Member Stuart provided the second. The motion passed  unanimously.  3. Salary Survey Discussion  Interim City Manager Bailey presented 3 Options to Council showing Fire Department salary increases. He stated Option 3willi increase pay for thel lower paid firefighters and increase our chances of recruiting for the current vacancies. He recommended Option 3 which will raise all base firefighter salaries to $38,000 and Lieutenants salaries to $41,000. He then suggested reviewing salaries of all city employees in. January 2025 in comparison with the new Market fromi the Mayor Pro-Tem McQueen stated he wanted to see a comparison between what was presented at the meeting last week ino comparison to how Police Department salaries were adjusted in 2023. He also stated he felt the Fire Department has Mayor Pro-Tem McQueen made ar motion toi increase Fire Department salaries to 90% of the Market as noted in Option 1andl look at an increase of all employee salaries in. January 2025. Council Member Sellers provided the second. The motion passed 31 to 2. Council Members Sellers, Stuart and McQueen voted in favor ofi increasing Fire Department  League.  been overlooked for salary increases.  salaries as in Option 1.
