COLORADO CITY OF ROCKY FORD - CITY COUNCIL MEETING July 9, 2024 WORK SESSION: 6:00 p.m. Mayor Duane Gurulé, City Manager Stacey Milenski, Councilmembers Robert Barron, Nicholas Martinez and Nicole Roberts, Public Works Director Rick Long and Luke. James met for av work session to discuss a proposed 50/50 sidewalk replacement program. Others present: Gary Reed REGULAR. Those Councimembers: Robert Barron, Nicholas Martinez, Sherry Cordova andl Nicole Roberts Staff: City Manager Stacey Milenski and City Clerk Rebecca Korinek Others present: Gary Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Marty Maes, Joe Cordova representing the American Legion, Claudio Aragon, Willard Behm and Jennifer Olguin representing Small Town Project. Mayor Gurulé led the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilmember Nicole Roberts read aloud the City of Rocky Ford's Mission Statement PUBLIC COMMENT Marty Maes, 405 S. 14th Street, expressed his concerns regarding an after-hours fee for turning water offlon. Joe Cordova asked Council to consider a proclamation for Sergeant John' Valdez (killed in action 8/13/1969 and Captain Jackie Phillip Heil (killed on 9/25/1970) fori their service in Vietnam and bravery to their Country. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Martinez. Milenski added some information tol her report. Finance Director Kyle Crosswhite gave Council his recommendation to Council regarding the purchase of three (3) trucks. PUBLIC HEARING None OLD BUSINESS Lease or Purchase - 2024 GMC Crew Cab - Perkins Auto, La Junta authorize thel lease of a 2024 GMC 1500 Crew Cabi from Perkins Auto. Cordova reported that. June was a very big month for the library staff and board. Roberts reported that the Chamber of Commerce hosted the Freedom Fest and Annual Duck Race on. July 4th. Fun was held by all and Roberts thanked all who helped and turned out. Mullins was not available for tonight's meeting. Gurulé thanked thel Police Department for the traffic control and all others that! helped with fundraising and pyrotechnics on the ground. Gurulé will conduct a' "Facebook Live" session fori interaction with the community. Gurulé will attend the Pension Board quarterly meeting on' Wednesday evening. Friday at 11:00 a.m. for the' "Osborn Gurulé received an award from the Colorado Municipal League (CML) for reaching the foundation level on training and Building".
