SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST5,2 2024 5:001 PM The Lafayette County Commission met on the above date and hour for a special meeting. The meeting was held in the County Commissioners Meeting Room in Mayo, Florida. The following members were present: Commissioner Lance Lamb, Dist. I(phone); Commissioner Mason Byrd, Dist. 2; Commissioner Lisa Walker, Dist. 3; Commissioner Anthony Adams, Dist. 4; Commissioner Earnest Jones, Dist. 5; and Leenette McMilan-fredriksson, County Attorney. HURRICANE DEBBY The Board discussed the effects ofHurricane Debby. The Category 11 hurricane left the county with a lot of debris on the roads and all of the county without power. The damages don'tseem to be as bad as Idalia from the previous year. However, debris cleanup will still be an issue. Onai motion by Mr. Adams and a second by Mr. Byrd, the Board voted unanimously toi issue a public service announcement with the following language: "Please do not place debris on the County right of way at this time. Vegetative debris and construction debris from Hurricane Debby will be accepted at the Lafayette County Landfill through October 31, 2024 free of charge."
