SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 6, 2024 7:001 PM The Lafayette County Commission met on the above date and hour for a special meeting. The meeting was held in the County Commissioners Meeting Room in Mayo, Florida. The following members were present: Commissioner Mason Byrd, Dist. 2; Commissioner Lisa Walker, Dist. 3; Commissioner Anthony Adams, Dist. 4; Commissioner Earnest Jones, Dist. 5; and Leenette McMilan-fredriksson, County Attorney. HURRICANE DEBBY The Board discussed the effects of Hurricane Debby. All County Offices will be open on August 7, 2024 as most of the power in the city limits had been restored. The Florida Department ofTransportation agreed to take responsibility for the debris cleanup for Lafayette County, honoring the contract the county has with Grubbs Emergency Services. Onar motion by Mr. Adams and a second by Mr. Byrd, the Board voted unanimously toi issue a public service announcement with the following language: "Attention!! Lafayette County Residents - Debris from Hurricane Debby will be picked up from the County right of way, please place your debris on the right ofway without impeding Debris removal is limited to storm-related debris which presents a health and safety hazard. All citizens are encouraged to segregate materials at the County right of way. Vegetative Debris (shrubs and trees-cut into less than 20-foot sections) Construction & Demolition Debris (wood, sheetrock, furniture, and household materials) MATTRESSES MUST BE: BY THEMSELVES White Goods Debris (freezers, refrigerators, stoves, washers/dryers) Electronics Debris (computers, microwaves, laptops, cell phones, etc.) Mixed piles of debris will not be collected by County personnel. All debris must be traffic. Eligible debris MUST be separated into 4 categories to include: placed in the right ofway by Friday, September 6, 2024."
