Locust Street, The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas H. MONTHLY. FINANCIAL REPORT AND APPROVAL OF CHECKS David] Bryant, Director of Finance and) HR, presented an overview of revenue whichi included sofl-billing, real estate tax, meals tax, business licenses and other revenue: sources. He also gave an update regarding aj possible saving on a City bondi issuance. He is currently working witht the auditors ont this matter. Followingt the report, a motion was made by Vicel Mayor Crosier, seconded by Mr. Tucker, to approve the monthly financial report and the August checks. Motion carried 5t to0. PUBLIC HEARING Al Public Hearing was held regarding Proposed Real Estate Taxl Rate Increase. This increase is due to the recent General Reassessment of Reall Estate. Cathy Kimberlin, Commissioner oft the Revenue, presented information: regarding the process for handling thisi increase realized by the General Reassessment. Thel Public Hearing was opened. There were no comments from the REQUESTS, PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS AND. APPOINTMENTS Police ChiefChris Smith recognized Corporal Scott) Balser on his graduation from the Virginia Forensics Science. Academy. This was a nine week course and Chief Smith expressed appreciation to Corporal Balser and! his family for the dedication of time and effort to achieve Chief Smith also recognized Sergeant Heather Lane, Officer. Justinl Fitzgerald and Officer Harry Brown fort their quick response ina a lifesaving situation. They were commended for their dedication ande effort in achieving a positive outcome int thiss situation. Following discussion, a motion was made by Vice Mayor Crosier, seconded by Mr. Tucker, to approve the Community Services Board Annual Performance contract. Motion carried 5t to 0. 1.A press release has beeni issued regarding the incident att the Rivermont School. Ms. Onaitis 2. CSXI has given permission for the City to work on CSX property. CSX will provide a flagman and officer fort the City to cleart the storm drain and repairt the drain at' Walnut and Oak Street. citizens present. this level of Police work.
