Locust Street, The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas H. Sibold, Jr. Invocation was given by Rev. Roll Call of Council showed the following present: Mayor Sibold, Vice Mayor David S. APPROVAL OFI MINUTES Upona ai motion by Vice) Mayor Crosier, seconded by Mr. Tucker, Council voted to approve the following minutes as presented: Work Session ofl February 4, 2020 and Regular Meeting of REQUESTS, PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS AND. APPOINTMENTS Lori Kroll of Draper-Aden, gave aj presentation regarding Brownfields Grant Program. Draper- Adeni isar multi-service engineering firm whichi includes fifty environmental professionals. The Brownfields Grant that has been awarded to the City of Covington, Alleghany County, Town of Clifton Forge and" Town of] Iron Gatei is in the amount of $600,000 with noi match required. This grant reviews properties withj possibilities for expansion, redevelopment and re-use. The Brownfields Grants assists with taking away the' "stigma" ofap property; development of properties; preparing a data base to, showcase properties, community engagement, inventory and prioritization and renewal planning. A number of properties were: showni in the presentation including properties in the City ofCovington such as the former bank building on Main Street, Ritches' Cleaners and the old) Rivermont Schooll building. Some other properties in the area included the Iron Gate School property and] Kountry Korners building onl Potts Creek. Ms. Kroll also noted that there are additional sites being worked on. She also stated that these funds are leverage fori renewal and additional funds. City Manager Onaitis is currently working witht the task force regarding the COVID19 virus. Thist task forcei includes law enforcement, schools and local and regional health officials.
