RE: RECOGNITION Mrs. Flynn presented a certificate of recognition to the Greene County Arts Festival Planning Committee commenting the event continues to get bigger and better every year. Mrs. Beth Laine, Ms. Kendell Tata, Ms. Joey Taylor, Ms. Anna Taylor and Ms. Emily Scognamillo Mrs. Flynn presented a certificate oft recognition to the Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic. Mrs. Mary Hinterman, Executive Director, Mr. Carl Schmitt, Mr. Don Pamenter and Mr. Andre Hinterman were present. Mrs. Hinterman said they are spearheading an effort to start a four- operatory non-profit dental clinic in Greene County and have applied for a $225,000 grant from were present representing the. Arts Festival Planning Committee. VA Healthcare Foundation. RE: MATTERS FROM THE PUBLIC Keith Bourne - Sheriff's Department request for funding for two new deputies was denied while $250,000 for solid waste disposal was included. Hei feltiti is reasonable to expect that tipping fees would be structured to cover the cost of operations. This is simply irresponsible spending. Asked Board to reconsider funding the additional deputies for Sheriff by cutting the subsidy to Roy Dye - STAR - Public hearing on Thursday, April 19 to update community on two grant projects the Town is now implementing. Streetscape improvements, improve facades of historic buildings, upgrade six lowi income apartments, build farmersi market and bandstand behind Mallory Lamb - Thanks to all who attended VDOT forum on Thursday. Hoping VDOT has heard concerns and will adjust plan accordingly. Sheriff's Office having surplus of close to $250,000 at end oflast five fiscal years says tol hert that Sheriffis doing wonderful job at decreasing cost put on taxpayer. Sheriff requested increase this year but was not approved. School keeps surplus, $700,000 this past year, in their own reserve fund. Total of reserve fund for schools at end ofl FY 2017 was $3,518,212. Schools should pull from their reserve, rather than Board of Supervisors cutting other budgets to fully fund their budget request. RE: LIAISONREPORIS Mr. Herring said the Broadband Committee met last week of March with a guest speaker and information from CIT. The possibility of forming a broadband authority for the purpose of handling grants may be discussed. The' Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission met last Mr. Cox said the Emergency Services Committee will meet next Tuesday night at Station Mrs. Flynn said she will be attending the Ageism in Public Policy roundtable at the Tom Mr. Cox noted this is also VDOT Work Zone Safety week. A vigil was held earlier this Mr. Herring said there was a great turnout at the VDOT: meeting on the Route 33/Route 29 Thursday. 1.
