Woodard would take minutes from Executive session. 1. Calll Meeting to Order - Lee called to order @ 6:36 pm. 2. Invocation - JeffF Floyd 3. Pledge of Allegiance 4. Swearing in of Geoffrey Villegas - Villegas has qualified to complete Harry Lewis 5. Approve minutes from 8/14 Regular Meeting and 8/31 Called Meeting = Woodard made a motion to approve the 8/14 Regular Meeting minutes, Brownley 2nd, unanimously approved. Woodard made the motion to approve the 8/31 Called Meeting minutes, Cox . Approve Agenda = Woodard made a motion to approve, Geter 2nd, unanimously approved. 7. August Finance. Reports - Brownley made the motion to approve the reports, Jones 2nd, remaining 2-year term. R. Clark performed the swearing in. 2d, unanimously approved. unanimously approved. OLD BUSINESS 8. City Hall Update - Floyd stated that sheetrock is being put up and some electrical has been done. Also, is a couple of weeks behind. Mayor Lee and the clerks have been reaching out to different vendors to get quotes for furniture. Would like to get a spending allowance for the furniture. Brownley made a motion to give up to $40,000 from the. ARP Funds, Geter 9. Eastside Park Update - Geter would like to name the basketball court at the ESP after Charles Carter and do it during the tailgate. Geter is requesting 2 things, and it will be last time he request any money for the ESP: 1- $225 to get the sign and 2- $2250.99 for water and electricity to the pavilions. Geter made a motion to pay for the water addition out ofthe W/S account, Woodard 2nd, unanimously approved. Geter made a motion to pay for the electrical out of the ARP account, Woodand 2nd, unanimously approved. Geter makes a motion to table naming the basketball court after Charles Carter until documentation is 10. Trees @ monument - Floyd stated that the trees at the monument need to be trimmed because they are covering up the flag poles again. Floyd would like to cut the last 2 trees down and replace them with) Evergreen trees because of what they are doing to the monument and flagpoles. The city employees will cut the trees down and get someone else to come in to grind the stumps down. Woodard has made a motion to approve the removal 2nd,Jones and Villegas approved. Cox and Woodard opposed. given. oftrees but must alert the public before it is done, Brownley 2nd, unanimously approved. NEW BUSINESS 11. WWTP repairs - Floyd stated that 2 blowers have not been in operation for a while. Southeastern Environmental is the only one that has given a quote even after reaching out to other companies. The quote is for $73,555.30 with 50% of the total due as a down payment. Jones made a motion to go with the quote and pay for the repair out of the W/S account, Cox 2nd, Brownley, Geter and Villegas approved, Woodard opposed. Passed with majority vote. 12. Trunk or Treat - Woodard made a motion to doi it on Tuesday, October 31st from 6pm - 13. 2024 Budget = Geter makes a motion to make the budget available to the public and have the public hearing during the October meeting, Brownley 2nd, unanimously 8pm, Geter 2nd, unanimously approved. approved. 14. Burn Ordinance - Clark recommends a vote to suspend the current burn ordinance and let the citizens burn if they get ok from the forestry. Cox makes a motion, Woodard 2nd, unanimously approved. 15. Council Member Remarks: Clark stated that he will not be available for the council meetings in October and November. Woodard made a motion to move the October meeting to Tuesday, October 10, Geter 2nd, unanimously approved.
