City Hall Strategic Planning Committee Update - the members of the committee have split up in groups and went over the good & bad of Alamo. Most feel that nothing will get done if certain people are on council, but there are items that the city is not in compliance with and the city needs to figure out ways to fix it. They feel that ai new city hall will boost up the morale oft the employees and citizens oft the city. During the May council meeting the members oft the committee will speak to everyone and council with their findings and 7. Old Rec. Dept. Update - The final application is due by April 30 and the council needs to finalize what they would like to see and how much they are willing to spend. There will be a packet at the city hall if anyone would like to look atithe specifics of everything that will be proposed toj put down at the rec. department. They will be looking at a Nature trail, redo bathrooms, update/upgrade to playground for children, surveillance, parking lot, gazebos/group shelters with grills & tables and possible a fence around area soi it can be regulated. Geter made the motion to go up to $200,000 which the city will be liable for $100,000 of that because it is a match grant, Lott 2nd, unanimously approved. suggestions. 8. Seal bids a. Green truck - bid from JB Floyd in the amount of $501; Cox made the motion b. Garbage truck - No bid was turned in. Stacie Avery, CPA- 2020 Audit Contract - Cox made motion to accept contract, 10. Cleveland Wilcox Resolution - Lott made the motion to retire Alamo PD 2 in honor of Mr. Wilcox and to adopt the resolution to do so, Lewis 2nd, unanimously approved. 11. Housing Authority Resolution - HUD is looking to: merge Alamo and Glenwood Housing Authority. Glenwood tried to make it the Wheeler Co. Housing Authority, but HUD would not agree. Glenwood has agreed to accept and take on the Alamo Housing Authority, but ift the City of Alamo does not agree then HUD could turn it over to another county. Cox made a motion that since the city attorney is not in person, maybe table to topic until the attorney can talk to the council members and better explain what is going on, Woodard 2nd, unanimously approved. Sue Connor stated that the city of Alamo will not lose any funding due to the 12. 2021 Senior Parade- - Looking to make a senior parade a yearly event. Part-time employee - CM Floyd is requesting that since the grass cutting and weed eating season is picking up that the city hire another part time employee for at least 20/hrs. a week. Spring Cleanup (June 7-11) - roll-off will bel located at the shop and the citizens can drop off dispose of anything that will not go in the trash can. For the month ofl March, the PD answered approx. 378 Sandra Brown -J just wanted to stress to everyone that if they would like to see the inside of the City Hallito see the clerks and they will show the troubling areas. Kerry Williams - just wanted to advise the council on the mentor program that will begin this summer and they are looking to do a car wash in May. Geter made the motion for the mentor program tojdo the carwash, Woodard 2nd, Norris Sledge asked about cutting the ditch in front of his house and what is considered the City ride away? Lewis responded that there are some ditches that are way more difficult than others. If the city took the time out to do the ditches itwill be very time consuming, and the city does not have the manpower. Woodard responded that just because it is in the right ofway does not mean the city has to do the upkeep. It would still land on thel homeowner. unanimously approved. EXECUTIVE SESSION (employee matters, litigations) - went into executive session 7:26 pm with Lott making the motion, Geter 2nd, unanimously approved. City Clerk, Marie Carrillo excused from meeting and Woodard would take minutes from Executive session. Following executive session, the following was voted: Woodard made the motion to hire Karen Zanders as the new Chiefof Police at $45,000/yr., take home vehicle and not to be held to the 5 days work week effective 4/21/21., Geter 2nd, unanimously approved.
