MINUTES CITY COUNCIL March 12, 2024 REGULAR MEETING OF THE MONTEZUMA CALLTOORDER: INVOCATION: Mayor. Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Attendees stood as the Mayor led in prayer, then said the "Pledge of Allegiance" in unison. PRESENT: Mayor Nealie Johnson; Council Members: Walter Felton, Cleveland Hobbs, Howard Brown, Marie Tooks and Charles Ivey; City Attorney, Jon Coogle; City Manager, Mel Fulghom; City Clerk, Jennifer McCarthy; Police Chief, Eric Finch; Fire Chief, Roy Yoder; W/WW Plants Chief, Terry Cross; W8 & SLine Maintenance Chief, Lonnie Shaw; Public Works Chief, Tim Goodman; Economic Developmenty/loursm Coordinator, Angie Mathews ABSENT: Mayor Pro-Tempore Daniel Porter CITIZEN COMMENTS Citizen #1: Kim Davis asked if vests for citizens and bikers were available through grants. Fire Chief Roy Yoder addressed the question. The grants that the city applied for are for Emergency Management personnel only. Kim Davis also asked if the City would be removing fallen trees at Henry Mack Park. Public' Works Chief Tim Goodman addressed the question. The city will continue to maintain the park. CONSENT AGENDA MOTION#1 To accept all issues on the consent agenda, as follows: To Approve minutes of regular council meeting of February 13, 2024, as received by all members. Toapprove the following alcohol licenses for 2024: Tranmazon (restaurant) Azteca (restaurant) 201 Walnut St. On Premises Beer, Wine & Distilled Spirits 109 Oglethorpe Rd. On Premises Beer, Wine & Distilled Spirits To Adopt Resolution #730 to approve filing of CDBG24 application with GA Dept. of Community Affairs in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00. Mayor lee Jennifer Clerlo AL CITYOF MONTEZUMA RESOLUTION #730 RESOLUTIONAUTHORIZINGTHE FILING OFANA APPLICATION WITHTHE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITYAFFAIRS FOR FISCALYEAR 2024, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS INAN AMOUNT NOTTO EXCEED $1,000,000 FORACOMMUNITY FACILITIES PROGRAM INTHE CITY OFI MONTEZUMA WHEREAS, the Montezuma City Council possesses full Legal Authority to make application to the Georgia Department ofCommunity. Affairs for Community Development Block Grant Program funds incorporated in the Housing and Community Development Act of1974, as amended; and WHEREAS, thel Montezuma City Council has found it needful and necessary to file an application NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, and it is hereby resolved that the Montezuma City Council approves and authorizes the filing of said application including all understandings and BEITI FURTHER RESOLVED that the Montezuma City Council directs the Mayor to execute and file said application on behalf of the City, to furnish additional information as required by the Department of Community Affairs, and to do all those acts which are needful and necessary to for Community Development Block Grant Program funds; assurances necessarily contained therein; and expedite approval of said application.
