Mayor Walker talked to officials at DOT and arranged to be able to pick up 30 large orange safety barrels to use as barriers to keep pedestrians on the sidewalk and off of the street, especially on the Shady Days/Whaley side of the highway. He also There was a child who ran into the street and was hit by a car at one of the fairs. The child was not injured luckily, but perhaps the mesh and barrels will prevent another such incident. Adults walk blindly onto the street also, and drivers in passing vehicles cannot always see someone trying to cross Kris Price, operator of Shady Days in Gay Fair said she has her own barrels and her private security agent puts them out on Friday evening after her vendors have arrived. Former Mayor Nash was present and said the places we had designated was not a good idea since part of the problem is broken glass, nails, wire and other junk left behind, which are obvious tire hazards. The place we originally suggested is too close to where employees and anyone visiting City Hall park and drive in and out. She recommended a place just behind the Fire Station. Mayor Walker said that while the dumpsters are here, we need to see if we can get some volunteers Saturday morning at about 9:00 a.m. to help clean up junk left below city hall and behind the community building, at the tree The last item on the agenda was an update on the LMIG and Supplemental Grants.
