Minutes of Regular Meeting Mayor and Council City of Fitzgerald, Georgia July 8, 2024 6:00 p.m. Mayor and Council met on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 302 East Central Avenue, with Mayor. Jason L. Holt presiding and with Council members Brown, Clemons, D.. Jefferson, S. Jefferson, J.J Johnson, K.. Johnson, Roberts and' Webb Mayor Holt welcomed everyone to the meeting on a rainy night. Thisisaspecial meeting tonight Minutes of previous meeting, June 10, 2024, Regular Council meeting were presented. Mayor Holt entertained a motion for approval. Council member Webb made a motion to approve minutes, seconded by Council member Brown. With there being no additions or corrections, Mayor Holt called for a Roll Call Vote: 8 Yes, ON No. Allinfavor, motion approved. Under hearing from citizens and visitors, Mayor Holt called on Police ChiefWilliam Smallwood to come and make some special pinning's for four police officers. Laykin Brown and Thomas Registerarenewofiters swithi the police department and we welcomet themtotheteam. Malachi Kendall was promoted to Sergeant and Barrett Parr was promoted to Captain. Congratulations tot these two who have worked. Mayor Holt asked those that were herei to supportthese officers Mayor Holt called on Dene Hogan. Mrs. Hogan stated she lives at 107 Sims Circle. Her property is in the City but there is a small strip that runs in front of her property on Roanoke that seems to be an issue. This strip has not been mowed, has grown up, backed up with water and harbors a family of foxes. She requested assistance on keeping this up as she can not do anymore. Mrs. Hogan also thanked Chief Smallwood for getting a speed sign in her neighborhood that has Mayor Holt called on David Coffee. Mr. Coffee lives in the county at 169 Meadowlane. He requested a copy of a deed for the family plot at the cemetery that was bought back in 1956. Mayor Holt paused the meeting for a few minutes to allow those wanting to leave the Under reports of city officers, Mayor Holt mentioned the administrative report. He asked that everyone read through this as there is a lot of information in the report. Mayor Holt did call out the revenues at 50.91% and expenditures at 48.68%. Committee reports were given by the respective chair persons. Council Person Clemons presented an alcohol license on. Jet Foods located at 255 Benjamin H Hill Drive. This is an application forar new business with beer/wine off premises. This application has been through the proper channels. A motion to approve this application was made as it does meet all the requirements for approval. Motion to approve Clemons, seconded by Roberts. With City Attorney, Kyle Cook, presented an Ordinance Caption: an Ordinance to amend the City of Fitzgerald zoning district map with respect to all of City lots numbers7 and 8, in square number 14 in block number 2, in the City of Fitzgerald, formerly Irwin, now Ben Hill County Georgia, as shown by the plats of said city made by or for the American Tribune Soldiers Colony Company of filei ini the office ofthe Clerkofthe! Superior Courtoflrwin County Georgia;to rezone: said property City Attorney, Kyle Cook, presented Resolution R24-005: Al Resolution to authorize an agreement between the City of Fitzgerald and the Board of Commissioners of Ben Hill County, Georgia, To Mayor called for discussion and with none, Roll Call vote: 8 Yes, 0 No. All in favor, motion Councilman Kevin. Under New Business: Mayor Holt asked for approval to reappoint Louie Harper to the planning and zoning board.
