Minutes- August 6, 2024/1 Town ofClermont Town Council Meeting August 6, 2024 The Clermont Town Council met on August 6, 2024. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Mayor. James Nix, Councill Members James Castleberry, Marcia Kesler, Seth Weaver, and Amanda Nix. Town Clerk Amy Lomax also attended. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: Seth Weaver motioned to approve the agenda. Amanda Nix seconded, and all Council members present voted in favor. Motion passed. INVOCATION. AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Council Member Seth Weaverl led MINUTES- July 2024: James Castleberry motioned to accept the July 2024 Minutes. Marcia Kesler seconded the motion, and all Council members present voted in favor. FINANCIALSTATEMENT: The Mayor and Council reviewed the. June 2024 Financial REPORT: PLANNING AND ZONING: The Mayor and Council reviewed this report. SECOND READING OF ORDINANCE: 82-2024-07-01- Mayor Nix gave the second reading oft the Ordinance. This is an ordinance to: fix the ad valorem tax rate for the Town ofClermont for the calendar year 2024 and use in the fiscal year of 2024-2025; to levy said tax upon all property subject to taxation by the Town of Clermont; to provide for the time of payment of said taxes; to repeal conflicting ordinances and: for other purposes. The gross millage rate is set at 3.9 mills on each $1,000.00 of taxable property (at said property's 40j percent assessed value) and is hereby reduced by ai rollback of3.9 (due to receipt ofs sales taxj proceeds). Therefore, the net millage rate of0.00: mills for the fiscal Year 2024-2025 is hereby set and established. Seth Weaver motioned to approve the Ordinance, James Castleberry seconded, and all Council CLERMONT DAYS: 2023: Amy Lomax gave an update on the upcoming Clermont Days Festival in September. The planning is going well; all vendor spaces are full. Amy introduced Chuck Shandera, the technician who will shoot the Clermont Days fireworks show. Chuck thanked the Council for sticking with him through his employment change from Zambelli to Pyrotechnico. The Council thanked Chuck fort the greatj jobl hel has always done with Clermont Days Fireworks and for the free training show that his company did on Easter this past year. There has been a change in the site's location for the shoot this year. They will be shot from an area further away from the festival site. This will allow a larger fall-out zone for the fireworks and a more secure area for the set-up and production of the fireworks show. It will also benefit the Town because it will open up the area for the invocation, and Mayor Nix led thel Pledge of Allegiance. Motion passed. Report. members present voted in favor. He spoke with the architect this morning, and he has finished his drawings, and the perk test has been done. The architect is waiting for the drawings on the site plan.
