CALL TO ORDER Mayor Clemons called the meeting to order. Pastor Hooper gave the invocation & Mayor Clemons led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Clemons asked ifanyone had items to add tot the agenda. According to the election laws oft the State of Georgia (Reference O.C.G.A. $21-2-131), municipalities are required to publish the qualifying fees for Qualifying fees for nonpartisan municipal offices in Georgia are 3% oft the previous year's gross salary for the office and are to be set and published no later than February Ist ofeach year in which there is a regular election. These fees will be published ini the MDJ newspaper and posted on our website. The qualifying fee for Mayor is $1,080.00. The qualifying fee for Council Members is $432.00. Seconded by Mrs. Leverette. Surplus Confiscated Vehicles Ms. Elder made ai recommendation to approve the 2023 Qualifying Fees for Election. 9.POLICE DEPARTMENT ChiefHamilton is requesting to surplus the following confiscated vehicles: 2 1/9/2023 Council Minutes YEAR 2010 MAKE Chevrolet MODEL HHR VIN GNBABDB9A5600773 MILEAGE Unknown (instrument cluster doesn'twork) 264,730 1991 Acura Legend H4KA8264MC000964 The above confiscated vehicles were inspected by Austell Public Works. The recommendation was for the police department to sell both vehicles due to the condition. The cost of repair would outweigh the usefulness and longevity oft the vehicles. Cost for repair on the. Acura would exceed $2500 simply to make the car run again. Cost to bring the HHR up to par would be in the $1500-$2000 range. Due to the length the vehicles have been in storage, reliability still can't be guaranteed. The vehicles would be sold on the government auction site (GovDeals) or donated to the Austell Fire Department for Mr. Myrick made a recommendation to approve the Surplus Confiscated Vehicles. training purposes. Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting (Information Only) The Parks Department assisted in organizing and overseeing the Parade ofI Lights with our Mayor and Council leading the way on their lighted golfo carts. Code Enforcement Report B. 1371 Quality Way & Timothy Lane - Rezoning & Annexation Application 2022-26R & 2022-27A: by American Contractors Supply, LLC to rezone and annex approximately 6.848 acres located at 1371 Quality Way and an unaddressed parcel on' Timothy Lane (D#02581820004, 03101820003 and 1802500310) from HI and C-H (heavy industrial and heavy commercial - Douglas County) and R-20 (residential - Cobb County) to HI (heavy industrial- city): for the purpose of building administrative offices and outdoor storage. Mr. Kimbrough opened for a public hearing. Attorney Kevin Moore came to speak on behalfoft the above-mentioned property. Mr. Moore stated there is already industrial property in Mrs. Anderson made a motion to close the rezoning public hearing. Seconded by Mr. Mrs. Anderson made ai motion to approve the rezoning.
