Lumpkin County, Georgia Parks and Recreation Department Citizens Advisory Board Meeting Minutes July 10, 2024 1. Call to Order a. Citizens Advisory Board Chair, Hank Haynes, called the meeting to order b. Autumn Chatham, Jessica Tardonia, Shawn Boyd, Hank Haynes were C. Tim Towe, Ahmad Kamra, Noah Burruss, Haley Sparks, Alan Ours, and at 12:02pm on July 10,2024 present. Jason Davis was absent. Jared Ray were also in attendance as county staff a. Hank Haynes gave an invocation to begin the meeting 2. Invocation 3. Recognize Citizens or Guests a. No guests present. 4. Approval of Minutes a. A motion was made to approve the previous minutes by Autumn Chatham and seconded by Hank Haynes Passed unanimously 5. Old/Ongoing Business a. Football, Cheerleading, and Girl's Flag Football i. All practices will begin on July 29th ii. Cheer, Football, and Flag football uniforms have been ordered and are expected to arrive at the beginning of August. 1. Football: i. 5th grade football drafts will take place on ii. All football practices will be held at the LCHS football field, track area, and the field directly i. Cheerleading practice locations have not yet been decided. Practice locations will depend on registration numbers for Fall BB/SB/T-ball. Tim reported that flag football will practice on the soccer fields until Fall soccer starts. Tim Friday July 13th. behind the Gym. 2. Cheerleading: 3. Girl's Flag Football: hopes to have the rugby fields renovated for flag football practices. b. All Stars: Baseball and Softball 8U Girl's Softball: Came in 2nd place in state tournament. ii. 8U Boy's Basebal!: Came in 5th place in the state tournament. iii. 12U Boy's Baseball: Came in 7th place in the state tournament. The state swim meet will be held on July 19th and 20th in Appling County, Georgia on July 19th and 20th. Tim and Ahmad will be traveling to support the swim team and represent Lumpkin County ii. Summer swim team will also be hosting a swim meet at Pinetree Recreation Center on July 12th. Only Lumpkin County swimmers There has been no official start date set for the update. i. Tim reported that registration will end on August 2nd for fall ii. Tim also reported that the teams will be playing games against . Summer Swim Team Parks and Recreation. competing. d. Turf Grant Update 6. New Business a. Fall Basebal/Sorbalr-bal baseball and softball. Dawson and White County. iii. 6UCp will play against Lumpkin teams only. b. UFA Soccer Contract: i. UFA will meet once a week with Parks and Rec staff to give updates and important dates/nformation. li. Aone-year contract has been signed with UFA. 7. Comments/Other a. Football Playing Time . Cheerleading and Football Fundraising i. Tim discussed with the board that there will be no fundraising done through Parks and Recreation.
