Town of Williamsport Mayor & Town Council Regular Session Meeting Minutes - Juty 8, 2024 OnJuly 8, 2024, thel Mayor & Town Council for the' Town ofWilliamsport' held al Regular Session. Those members oft the elected body who were present included Mayor William Green, Assistant Mayor Dennis Grove, Councilman Charles Brown, Councilman Earle Pereschuk, and Councilman Ben Tinsley. Councilman Jim Braswell and Councilperson Margaret Yaukey were absent. Town employees in attendance were Chad Rooney, Town Manager, and Ed: Kuczynski, Town Attorney. Mayor Green called the meeting to order at 4:00pm and asked for a moment of silence and then Mayor Green asked for a motion to approve the meeting minutes for June 3, 2024, Work Session. Councilman Brown made ai motion to approve the minutes as presented; Assistant Mayor Grove Mayor Green asked foramotion to approve the meeting minutes for. June 10, 2024, Public Hearing regarding the Charter. Amendment. Councilman Brown made ai motion to approve the minutes as Mayor Green asked for a motion to approve the meeting minutes for June 10, 2024, Regular Session. Councilman Tinsley madear motion to approve1 thei minutes as presented; Assistant Mayor Mayor Green noted Will Ball was on the agenda, but had not yet arrived. Mayor green explained Mayor Green the requested reports: Board of Election Supervisors, Board of Zoning Appeals, History & Museum Board, Planning Commission, Land Use, Legal Counsel, and Sheriff's Office Councilman Pereschuk presenting information about the community pool noting all has been operating well. He explained the summer program for Washington County has been using Pavilion 3 for the summer and recent graffiti and individuals sleeping in the pavilion was reported by the Councilman Brown reported the fireworks display was well attended and the company did a great Assistant Mayor Grove outlined various improvements to the Springfield Barn including wood Councilman Tinsley expressed his concerns about the financial status ofthe community pool. He outlined the pool has operated at al loss for three years totalling nearly $110,000. He continued to led the Pledge of Allegiance. seconded; the motion passed unanimously. presented; Councilman Tinsley seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Grove seconded; the motion passed unanimously. ifhe does make it to the meeting, he will be allowed to present at that time. had no report. camp was addressed by administrative employees quickly. job with the display and Canal Days is coming up at the end of August. replacement on the barn and corn crib. explain that when walking through the parking lot, there are more out of state license plates than in state and he explained the pool is a town funded amenity and should be primarily dedicated to their use. He also outlined a decline in the number of reservations at the Springfield Barn. His primary question was why these amenities should operate at a loss. Several members oft the dais explained this is typical of community pools, but ideas could be explored to minimize the impact on the town's! budget. Mayor Green explained the lower number ofreservations will be explored, but therel has been at turnaround in employees overseeing the reservations and showings at thel barn. Mayor Green explained there is no Old Business nor New Business. Mayor Green asked Senator Mike McKay ifl he would like the floor. Senator McKay presented a free copy ofhis take-aways from thei most recent legislative session. Heoutlined his achievements and several areas of concern. Senator McKay explained he is always available if anyone has any Councilman Brown: made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Councilman Pereschuk seconded; the questions or concerns. meeting was adjourned at 5:02pm.
