Town of Williamsport Mayor & Town Council Regular Session Meeting Minutes - February 12,2024 On February 12, 2024, thé Mayor & Town Council for the Town of Williamsport held a Regular Session. Those members of the elected body who were present included Mayor William Green, Assistant Mayor Dennis Grove, Councilman Jim Braswell, Councilman Charles Brown, Councilman Earle Pereschuk, Councilman Ben Tinsley, and Councilperson Margaret Yaukey. Town employees in attendance were Chad Rooney, Town Manager, Ed Kuczynski, Town Attorney, Nadene Green, volunteer, and Deputy Koontz, Washington County Sheriff's Mayor Green called the meeting to order at 7:00pm and subsequently requested a moment of Councilman Tinsley made motion to approve the meeting minutes from the January 16 Regular Correspondence included a request from the Washington County Soil Conservation District requesting a donation to support students at the Envirothon Competition and a card from the Mayor Green noted there are no reports from the Board of Elections Supervisors, History & Museum Board, Planning Commission, Land Use, nor Legal Counsel. The Town Attorney acknowledged recent action by the Zoning Appeals Board regarding the rebuilding ofa garage on the foundation of a previous garage which burned. Mayor Green noted 138 events including 5 Mayor Green asked for Councilperson reports: Councilperson Yaukey thanked the Town Manager for attending the most recent Planning Commission méeting and presenting information; Councilman Pereschuk asked about the pool cover and was informed by the Town Manager that no submissions were made when the RFP was advertised for a pool cover. The RFP will be readvertised. Councilman Brown: requested an update for thel bathroom project and was informed thej project is beginning soon with al hopeful completion date ofMarch 31; Assistant Mayor Grove noted the reopening oft the Library is pending the results of an air quality test and the newi room at the barn is complete and a ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for March 15. No reports were Mayor Green requested consideration for Resolution 2024-01 regarding the Washington County Hazard Mitigation Plan. Assistant Mayor Grove made ai motion to adopt the resolution in support ofthet town following thel hazard mitigation plan as developed by Washington County; Councilman Mayor Green asked for Town Councils consideration to approve a firm to handle the town's engineering needs. He asked the Town Manager toj present his recommendation based on the three submissions able to be considered. Councilman Braswell made ai motion to award the contract to RK&K at the rates specified in their Mayor Green opened thei floor for public comment: Clint Rawlings addressedi thel Mayor and' Town Council advising them ofhisi intentions to move the home office ofhis business Hauling Forl Hope to the town. He stated he would appreciate their support to potentially utilize a property on West Salisbury Street. The Mayor and' Town Council wished him well and instructed him to contact the Town Planner for specific instructions. Kathy Emerson, Williamsport Library Board, noted three items - 1) she has a contact to possibly assist. the town with improvements to. the library and will give the information to the town manager, 2) she requested the town hold a grand reopening once iti iss safe for patrons to enter the library, and 3) she requested the town make its recycling program Assistant Mayor Grove made a motion to adjourn the Regular Session, Councilman Brown submission; Councilman Brown seconded; the motion passed unanimously. known in conjunction with Earth Day. seconded; the meeting adjourned at 7:16pm.
