OFCAR  City of Cambridge Special Called Meeting, Meeting Minutes Council Chambers -3 305 Gay Street August 5, 2024, 6PM  Notice to Citizens: The City Commissioners are conducting city business in person. The commission meetings are open to the public unless otherwise allowed by law. The purpose of the meeting of the Commissioners of Cambridge on August 5, 2024, is to hold a closed Session pursuant to Md. Code Ann., General Provisions S 3-305(b)(1); to discuss personnel matters affecting specific individuals over whom the City Council has jurisdiction,S 3- 305(b)(7) and (8) to obtain legal advice from, and consult with, Special Counsel regarding pending litigation. Accordingly, the majority oft the meeting will be in closed session. Public  portions of this meeting will be televised on Town Hall Streams.com  Council Present: Mayor Stephen Rideout  Commissioner. Laurel Atkiss Commissioner, Jameson Harrington Commissioner Sputty Cephas Commissioner Brian Roche Assistant City Manager Brandon Hesson Special Counsel Tim Maloney (Virtual) Acting City Manager David Deutsch  Commissioner Lajan Cephas, Commission President (Virtual)  Also Present:  Agenda  Mayor Rideout opened the meeting stating that Council is in open session to go into closed session for a special called meeting. Director of New Beginnings, Goldie Cooper, along with several young people, were present in person for the open session part of the meeting. New Beginnings thanked Council for their generous donation, adding that they are now able to Motion made by Commissioner Sputty Cephas to go into closed session to Md. Code Ann., General Provisions S 3-305(b)(1); to discuss personnel matters affecting specific individuals over whom the City Council has jurisdiction,S 3-305(b)7) and (8) to obtain legal advice from, and consult with, Special Counsel regarding pending litigation and second by Commissioner Atkiss. Approve 5-0 vote. The open session adjourned at approximately 6:12 p.m.  acquire school clothes and supplies, and go on trips.  1/Page  City of Cambridge Meeting Minutes Special Called Meeting, August 5, 2024    Closed Session  Council wenti into closed session at 6:13 p.m.  Mayor Rideout, Commissioners Atkiss, Commissioner Harrington, Commissioner Sputty Cephas, Commissioner Roche, Acting City Manager David Deutsch and Assistant City Manager Brandon Hesson were present for the entirety of the closed session. Commission President Lajan Cephas was present for the entirety oft the closed session. Special Counsel Tim Mayor Rideout, Commissioner Atkiss, Commission President Lajan Cephas, Commissioner Harrington, Commissioner Sputty Cephas, Commissioner Roche, Assistant City Manager Brandon Hesson and Special Counsel Tim Maloney discussed personnel matters affecting specific individuals and also obtained legal advice from and consulted with, Mr. Maloney  Maloney was present for aj portion of the closed session.  regarding the pending litigation with CWDI. Mr. Maloney then exited. The following items were discussed during the closed session:  1. Obtain legal advice and consulted with Mr. Maloney regarding confidential 2. Conducted interviews of candidates for a specific board to fill a vacancy. Motion made by Commissioner Sputty Cephas to reconvene in open session and second by  documents.  Commissioner Atkiss. Approve 5-0 vote. Council reconvened in open session at 8:59 pm  Adjourn  On a motion by Commissioner Sputty Cephas and a second by Commission President Lajan Cephas the meeting was adjourned at' 9:00 p.m. Approved by a 5-0 vote.
