SNEADS TOWN COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING JULY11, 2023 The Town Council of the Town of Sneads, Florida, met in ai regular session at the Sneads Town Hall on Tuesday, July 11,2023, at 6:00 p.m. Mike Weeks called the meeting to order with the following present: Mike Weeks, Anthony Money, and Donovan Weeks; Council Members Daniel Cox, Attorney Tyler Weeks, Police Chief Sherri Griffin, City Clerk Danielle Guy, Deputy Clerk And the following were absent: Lee Garner, Town Manager All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. 1. Minutes for June 2023 3. Pay Approved Bills Agenda #4, No action. George Alexander and. Angela Locke, Council members Donovan Weeks made ai motion to approve the consent agenda. Tony Money seconded. All voted aye. 2. Financial Statements and Budget Review Summary Agenda #5 & 6, Recreation Department and Town Manager. No reports Agenda item #7, Town Attorney. See attached Ordinance, in reference to distance of alcoholic beverage licenses from churches and school. Mr. Cox stated that the current Ordinance is less than 500 feet, and this would change it to 2000 feet. After discussion, it was tabled until all other council members could be present. Agenda #8, Police & Fire Departments. Chief Weeks presented the Council with a report of the activities they had in the last month. Chiefstated that he had been selected by the FL: Police. Association to attend the conference free. He also stated that the JAG grant had come through that ChiefMiller had applied for before leaving and that it was for new body and car cameras. However, in order to operate them and store the data, they would need a hard driver and server, which cost around $6,000-7,000. He asked for approval of this purchase. Tony Money made ai motion to approve the purchase oft the hard drive and server for the police department. Agenda #9, Council Members. Donovan Weeks stated that the WWTP had two new employees that had started, Dennis McDaniel and Blake Fitzsimmons. They both were already working out great and saving the town Donovan Weeks seconded. Page 1 of1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SNEADS, FLORIDA AMENDING CHAPTER 4, CODE OF ORDINANCES TO MODIFYING THE DISTANCE THAT ESTABLISHMENTS SELLING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES MUST SEPARATE FROM ESTABLISHED CHURCH OR SCHOOL, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES 1. Ordinance amended to read: ARTICLE II. REGULATIONS Section 8 - Distance of licensed business from churches and schools No business licensed by the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption by the drink shall be allowed to conduct business packaged in a location that is less than 500 2000 feet from an established church or school, which distance public thoroughfare from the main entrance of the place of business to the main entrance of the church and, in the case of a school, to the nearest point of the school grounds in use as part of the school facilities, within the city limits of the Town of Sneads. Section 9 - Current distances grandfathered in Any business holding a license as stated above at the time of the adoption of this ordinance hameybesoiestoreteriatomansalaNdéhurcehorscho.l shall be grandfathered in and all rules and regulations other than distance shall apply. Section 10 - Future placement of churches and schools No church or school may request placement that will infringe upon the 500-2000 foot distance of an already established place of business licensed to sell and/or serve alcoholic beverages of any type. 2. effect.
