CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES JULY 20, 2022 Pursuant to Public Notice, Mayor Steven Osmer convened a regular meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber. Those present were Mayor Steven Osmer, Vice Mayor Jodi Rozycki, Councilmember Mindy Gibson, Councilmember Dominick Montanaro, City Manager Courtney Barker, City Attorney James Beadle and City Clerk Gwen Peirce. Councimember David Vigliotti was absent. Mayor Osmer led the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. (TIME: 6:01 P.M.) RECOGNITION OF FIRE PERSONNEL FOR A SUCCESSFUL LIFE Fire Chief Dave Abernathy explained the events of the life-saving of Jordan Smith on June 7, 2022 during a cardiac event by Fire Department and Police Department personnel. Recognition was given to Corporal Matt Bennett, Lt. Anthony Holland, and Corporal Philip Martinez, Capt. Rhiannon Iverson, Lt. Eric Tippens, Capt. Jay Dragon, Paramedic Darren Pelecki, raramedicrirengnter Meaghan Hartzell and Brevard County Jordan Smith expressed his appreciation to the departments for their urgency, training (TIME: 6:25 P.M.) RECOGNITION OF POLICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL FOR A SUCCESSFUL LIFE SAVING INCIDENT, ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND Police Chief Pearson presented an Academic Achievement Award to Corporal Martinez for receiving his Associates Degree in Counterterrorism and Corporal Mike Heinz for SAVING INCIDENT responders. and to the Council for their support. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS Vice Mayor Rozycki spoke regarding her attendance at the recent Space Coast League of Cities meeting where Councimember Gibson, Councimember Montanaro and City Manager Barker received Home Rule Hero Awards. She spoke regarding her participation in distributing door hangers regarding fertilizer ban and watering restrictions. Councimember Montanaro spoke regarding the number of Home Rule Hero Award winners that received their awards at the Space Coast League of Cities meeting. CITY MANAGER REPORT City Manager Barker announced a Brevard Schools Foundation school supplies drive. Grant Awards. She spoke regarding speaking with the Surfside Elementary Principal regarding reopening the playground gates. She spoke regarding a visit by Wesley Brooks, the State's Chief Resilience Officer, and Dr. Duane Defreese on the City's resiliency and sustainability efforts. She announced that the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization has placed the Jackson Avenue project on the top of the priority list for pedestrian projects. She spoke regarding upgraded electric vehicle charging Nick Walsh, Comptroller, provided an overview of the City's new online budget.
