SNEADS TOWN COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MAY3,2022 The Town Council oft the Town of Sneads, Florida, met in a special session at the Sneads Town Hall on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Mike Weeks called the meeting to order with the following present: Mike Weeks, George Alexander, Donovan Weeks, Councilman and Tony Money; Council Members Daniel Cox, Attorney Lee Garner, Town Manager Mike Miller, Police Chief Sherri Griffin, City Clerk Danielle Guy, Deputy Clerk And the following were absent: Angela Locke All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Attorney Cox, discussed with Council the progress ofl Muni Code. He stated that there will be a reform and bring back to Council to adopt at a later date. This will cause a Charter Change and there may be certain things in the Charter that need and will have to be voted upon. Next discussion was the Law Enforcement Salary increase being by the State for other agencies and how the town was going to stay in line with them in order to keep our Police Department. Mr. Garner stated that everyone is on the same boat as for doing whatever it takes to maintain our department. Mr. Garner informed Council that we can used ARPA Funds for salaries for the next two years and hope by that time the State has corrected to include municipalities. In the meantime, we need to be coming up with funding to support the salaries oft the police department. Mr Garner stated his plan was to raise the PD salaries July 1st and again Oct 1s'to show that we are trying to meet what other agencies are going to be paying. Other employees Attorney Cox suggested a property tax on each parcel on the tax roll and to start working on it now to get ahead oft that third year. Donovan Weeks suggested adding a fee to the utility bill. All they will get raises Oct 1St, at regular budget time. agreed that we need to be thinking about funding that third year.
