CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES MAY 20, 2020 Pursuant to public notice, Mayor Frank Catino convened a regular meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber. Those present were Mayor Frank Catino, Vice Mayor Mindy Gibson, Councilman Mark Brimer, Councilman Dominick Montanaro, Councilwoman Jodi Rozycki, City Manager Courtney Barker, City Attorney James Beadle, and City Clerk Gwen Peirce. Mayor Catino led the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. (TIME: 7:01 P.M.) CITIZEN COMMENTS None. (TIME: 7:01 P.M.) CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS Vice Chair Gibson spoke regarding her attendance at the Eastern Central Florida Councilman Montanaro spoke regarding his attendance at a virtual Executive Board Meeting for the Space Coast League of Cities. He commended the Building Department Councilman Brimer stated that he will not be able to attend the SHS Graduation Parade Mayor Catino spoke regarding his attendance at the virtual Space Coast League of Cities meeting. He spoke regarding calls with the Mayors of the County and a discussion Resiliency Council meeting. on handling all of the building projects ini the City. on Saturday. ensued regarding Emergency Management operations in the County. (TIME: 7:10 P.M.) CITY ATTORNEY REPORT City Attorney Beadle provided an update on the Sunshine Law lawsuit. (TIME: 7:13 P.M.) CITY MANAGER REPORT City Manager Barker announced that it's the Mayor's Birthday today. She announced that City events are still cancelled. She stated that there will be limited summer camps available and has stated that the City is currently looking for additional instructors. She announced that the JAG Grant funds have been received and requested consensus by Council to send a letter of support to the Sheriff's Department for the grant allocation. She spoke regarding the City has hired interns to complete a parking survey. ACTION ITEM: City Manager Barker requested a Council recommendation for resuming City Advisory Board meetings. CITY COUNCIL PAGE2 MEETING MINUTES MAY 20, 2020 ACTION: Councilman Brimer MOVED, SECOND by Councilman Montanaro, to resume holding advisory board meetings as of June 1, 2020. VOTE: ALL YES. MOTION ACTION ITEM: City Manager recommended opening the playgrounds and recommended halting disinfecting outdoor City facilities. Cassie Warthen, Recreation Director, provided information on disinfecting or washing the playground equipment. ACTION: Councilman Brimer MOVED, SECOND by Vice Mayor Gibson, to reopen City playgrounds and not continue disinfecting outdoor equipment and facilities. VOTE: ALL She also announced that several volunteers who assisted with the Recreation Department Virtual Programming are receiving certificates to thank them for their service. Lastly, she announced that there will be pictures of the Satellite High School Seniors will be hung on Jackson and that there is a Graduate Parade on Saturday, May 23. CARRIED.
