SNEADS TOWN COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING OCTOBER 28, 2022 The Town Council ofthe Town ofSneads, Florida, met in a special session at the Sneads Town Hall on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. Mike Weeks called the meeting to order with the following present: Mike Weeks, Tony Money, George Alexander, and Angela Locke Council Members Daniel Cox, Attorney Lee Garner, Town Manager Mike Miller, Police Chief Sherri Griffin, City Clerk Danielle Guy, Deputy Clerk And the following were absent: Donovan Weeks, Councilman The purpose ofthe meeting was to consider the approval of Resolution #2022-11, authorizing the Town of Sneads to act as a conduit for funding being transferred from Jackson County Board of County Commissioners: for the Sneads Volunteer Fire Department Support Organization, Inc. Attorney Cox explained to Council that these were extra funds that the County had at the end of the year, that could only go to a non-profit and were around $850,000 +/=. These funds could only be used for equipment and had to be placed in a restricted account for the FD, until they got their Exempt Status, then be transferred to them. At that time FD would have the only say on what equipment would bej purchased. RECITALS A. Jackson County is the recipient of ARPA funds. B. Under the provisions of ARPA, the County can make grants of ARPA funds to non-profit corporations for allowable purchases. C. The Sneads Volunteer Fire Department Support Organization. Inc. isal Florida non-profit corporation in the process ofapplying for its designation as an exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code 18 USC 501(a) and 501(c)3. D. The funds must be transferred from the County to the recipient prior to the expected receipt oft the organizations exempt status letter and a conduit for the funding is necessary to meet the deadline for transferring funds. E. The Town wishes to act as a conduit for the funding transfer. NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises it is hereby RESOLVED THAT: 1.
