City of Groveland Minutes City Council Workshop Monday, March 04, 2024 The Groveland City Council held a workshop on Monday, March 04, 2024 in the E.L. Puryear Building located at 243 S. Lake Avenue, Groveland, FL 34736. Mayor Evelyn Wilson called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. with the following members present: Vice Mayor Mike Radzik, Council Members Barbara Gaines, Richard Skyzinski, and Dina Sweatt. City officials present were City Manager Mike Hein, City Clerk Virginia Wright, Sergeant-At-Arms Chief Shawn Ramsey and As an alternate option, the public was provided the opportunity to attend the March 4, 2024 City Council Workshop virtually in listen/watch mode only. A public notice with instructions to participate was posted to the City's website under "public notices" at www.groveland-.gv. and City Attorney Anita Geraci-Carver. in the display board at City Hall. Groveland Police Department = Review of Police Pay, Staffing, and Recommendations Human Resources Director Deo Persaud reported public safety and law enforcement agencies nationwide are experiencing extreme staffing shortages, in which hiring and retaining entry level and experienced police officer is a severe crisis. Many jurisdictions institute advanced benefit packages and compensation practices to attract, retain, and encourage longevity. Shortages in labor supply can seriously hamper the ability of public Mr. Persaud provided a PowerPoint presentation as attached to these minutes as safety agencies to keep communities safe.
