Monday, July 19, 2024 City Hall Council Chambers, 101 Old Main Street CITY OF BRADENTON TREE & LAND PRESERVATION BOARD PRESENT Tree and Land Preservation Board Members: Jennifer Hoffman - Chair, City Staff: Jamie Schindewol-Senior Planner, Lori Brunner-Planning and Community Development Administrative Assistant, Ross Peterson- Alyssa Vinson, Ruth Lawler, Richard Larsen. Superintendent, Landscape & Grounds. REGULAR MEETING Pledge of Allegiance. Call to Order: by Jennifer Hoffman at 1:33 p.m. Move to Approve: Meeting Minutes from June 21, 2024, tabled until next Citizen Comment: Ingrid McClellan with the Palma Sola Scenic Highway Committee updated some information since she spoke to the board last month. She stated that she went before the County's Tree Advisory Board (LMAC) and they agreed to save the existing trees. The consensus was unanimous to work with the Palma Sola Scenic Highway Committee and want the trees preserved. They do not like non-native trees. The Committee has also worked with the Florida Department of Transportation liaison, as well as with Daryl Raschard who is the liaison for the Scenic Highways in his district. Mr. Raschard asked the Committee about the surveys that were given to the community. Ms. McClellan handed out a copy of the survey. She then discussed the results of the survey SO far. The deadline is July 29th, 2024, to submit. The results will be on the County meeting agenda as well as the next City Council meeting regarding the Beautification of the Palma Sola-Perico Bay Jennifer Hoffman read and then discussed the letter that Ed Dean drafted to be submitted to the City Council. The board could not vote on the letter since there was no quorum, however Ruth Lawler stated that it was very well written meeting. Medians. and Richard Dean agreed. Public Comment: None Reports from City Staff: Ross Peterson, superintendent of Landscape & Grounds stated that he had nothing noteworthy to report, but did talk about the various trees that have Alyssa Vinson questioned some of the species. Mr. Peterson replied. Jamie Schindewolf discussed the June 2024 Tree Permits. She also stated that she is working on the amendment proposals for the Planning Commission been planted and their locations. meeting in August. Ms. Schindewolf introduced our new Public Information staff: Tiffany Shadik, Public Information Specialist and Dave Meiers, Digital Community Marketing Manager. They are working on updating their policies, logos, colors, fonts, etc. She will send this information to Ms. Schindewolf for board disbursement. OLD BUSINESS a) Notable Tree Program - Ms. Vinson asked how submissions could be marketed through social media, sharing information, forms, maps, or b) Annual Strategy: Education Materials - Ms. Hoffman stated that Ms. McClellan designed a map (passed around for board members) which showed wildlife on Anna Maria Island. She, however, will still be in the area and will be around as a resource. She said her involvement has been an enjoyable experience.
