The Town Clerk can't find any documentation between the Town and Brevard County andlor the State of Florida obligating the Town to any specific actions Recommended Action: Background information: regarding beach re-nourishments. 8 o 5 A < D I e 8 I e e &J a o 1 N a e D V S BEACH RENOURISHMENT PROJECT The Town ofN Melbourne Beach has received notification from Brevard County that the next beach renourishment project is scheduled to begin. The following isi information The project will consist ofa approximately 41 miles through Melbourne Beach, Indialantic Mobilization will start the first week ofI December. Sand pumping activities will start 12-17-09 and are expected to conclude 2-24-2010. Demobilization should be complete by Work activities will start at the northern project boundary and work south. Once the work iss started, the contractor will work 241 hours a day, 7 days a week until complete. Approximately 500-1,000 feet ofthe beach will be closed at one time where the contractor is working. This may result in more than one of our beach crossovers being closed at the same time. However, the closure should not extend for aj period ofmore than 2-3 days. The contractor will barricade the access to thel beach access parking lots and provide security at the beach crossovers that are closed due to the work. This is the same contractor that performed the work in Melbourne Beach in 2002. The same dredging and pumping process will be used for this project as employed in 2002. Signs will be placed at the crossovers toi inform the public about the project. Beach renourishment projects are planned for every 6 years. However, conditions are constantly monitored. Therefore, the time period for renourishment can be less or more than 6 years. The last renourishment occurred in Melbourne Beach in 2005 as an This is al Federal project (Army Corps of Engineers).
