We propose having acoustic live music and other special winemaking and grape farming-related demonstrations on the following four Saturdays: September 14, September 21, September 28 and October 5. The goal ist to invite guests toi the property to educate them on how we farm grapes and how the wine is made. We are a farm/vineyard first and foremost. The music element is secondary. Iti is light entertainment and an additional piece to help draw guests to the property. The music would take place ini the courtyard, which issurrounded! by the winery building on 3 sides. The hope is that this location helps with sound mitigation. Furthermore, thei idea is that you would still be able to hold a conversation while the musici is We are very sensitive to the challenges that arose from events at the vineyard in the past. Squant Rock Though each storyteller shares their own version oft the Squant tradition, this is a simple retelling of the story that forever connects Aquinnah with Sakonnet: Moshup was a giant who lived on Martha's Vineyard. One day he turned his adult children into sharks. His wife Squant was inconsolable, and Moshup threw her to Sakonnet to free himself ofh her wailing. Squant continued to share her sOIrOW with the People as they paddled by SO Moshup turned her to stone to silence her. Squant still sits at Sakonnet, though the English have quarried away her arms and legs to build their homes. Squant protects paddlers taking ocean journeys. Honoring her before a journey is an important Wampanoag tradition. bensnkr RECEIVED AIIR 2 72 2024 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING.
