COUNTIES OF DALLAS AND KAUFMAN CITY OF SEAGOVILLE CITY OF SEAGOVILLE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES The City Council of the City of Seagoville met in a Regular Meeting on Monday, May 21, 2012 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 702 N. Highway 175, Seagoville, Texas, with the following members present: Mayor Mayor Pro Tem Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member Sidney M. Sexton, Jr Harold Magill Terri Ashmore Dennis Childress Peggy Day Lee Landess Mayor Sexton called the Work Session to order at 6:35 p.m. WORK SESSION 1. Staff Updates - Larry Graves, City Manager advised the Council of important upcoming dates and an upcoming City Council retreat scheduled for June 16th. Joy Hart, City Secretary gave an update on the primary election which will be held on May 29, 2012 from 7 am to 7 pm at City Hall and the First Baptist Church. 2. Discussion of Agenda Items None 3. Adjourn - Mayor Sexton adjourned the Work Session at 6:50 p.m. REGULAR MEETING CALL TO ORDER Mayor Sexton called the Regular Meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. POSTING OF THE COLORS BY BOY SCOUT TROOP96 INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Reverend Wilkins gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. CITIZEN INPUT None. PRESENTATIONS/PROCLAMATIONS 1. Flag presentation from 3d Squadron, 124+h Cavalry Regiment, Texas Army National Major Jason Hart presented a flag that was flown over Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Guard Africa by the 3td Squadron, 124t" Cavalry who is stationed there. Seagoville High School Agricultural Department Proclamation A proclamation was presented to the Seagoville High School Agricultural Department for their assistance in housing the animals during the repainting of the animal shelter. CONSENT AGENDA A. Consider approval of the May 14, 2012 Minutes. Ashmore seconded the motion and it passed 5-0. Mayor Pro Tem Magill made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Council Member INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION 1. Consider approval of Resolution No. 16-R-12 canvassing and declaring the results Council Member Ashmore made a motion to approve Resolution No. 16-R-12. Council 2. Issuance of Certificate of Election to re-elected council members and administer City Secretary Joy Hart issued Certificates of Election to re-elected council members and administered the oaths of office to Harold Magill, Lee Landess, and Peggy Day. 3. Consider and act upon nominations and election for Mayor Pro Tem. oft the May 12, 2012 City Council election. Member Landess seconded the motion and it passed 5-0. oaths of office. Council Member Childress nominated Harold Magill for Mayor Pro Tem. Council Member Day seconded the motion and it passed 5-0. Harold Magill will serve as Mayor Pro Tem. 4. Consider establishing a committee and appointing members to review the City's Mayor Sexton established the committee and appointed Council Member Childress as Chair. He also placed Julio Torres and Jerry Becker on the committee. The following city staff will attend the committee meetings: Ladis Barr, Bekki Roberts, and Cindy Kintz. Mayor Sexton then received suggestions for the rest of the appointments to the committee from the City Council. Council Member Ashmore nominated Billy Chambliss; Council Member Landess nominated Gary Tedder and Dee Thompson.
