STATE OF TEXAS CITY OF SEAGOVILLE COUNTY OF DALLAS/COUNTY OF KAUFMAN CITY OF SEAGOVILLE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES The City Council of the City of Seagoville met in a Regular Meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2009 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 702 N. Highway 175, Seagoville, Texas, with the following members present: Mayor Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member Sidney M. Sexton, Jr. Harold Magill Jose Hernandez Carl Polnac Marshall Green Mayor Pro Tem Brenda Thompson was absent the meeting. Mayor Sexton announced that her absence is an excused absence. The following City staff members were present: City Manager Chief of Police Fire Chief Interim City Secretary Denny' Wheat Pat Stallings Tommy Lemond Janie Willman Mayor Sexton called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and delivered the invocation. The City Council led the Pledge of Allegiance. PRESENTATION/PROCLAMATIONS) There were no presentations or proclamations. SPEAKERS There were no persons to speak before the Council. CONSENT AGENDA 1. Consider approval of the minutes of the March 2, 2009 Joint Special City 2. Consider Adopting Resolution No. 18-09 Reappointing the Municipal court Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge and Authorizing the Mayor to Sign Contracts with Maurice Harrell to Serve as Presiding Judge and Rod Haggard a. Consider Adopting Resolution No. 18-09 Reappointing the Municipal Court Presiding Judge and Authorizing the Mayor to Sign a Contract with Maurice Motion: Harold Magill made a MOTION and Carl Polnac SECONDED to Vote on the motion: Passed unanimously by a vote of 4 ayes-O nays. b. There were two persons to speak before the Council: Ginger Brisbing,1504 Del Carlo Circle, addressed the City Council detailing customer service issues arising out of what she regards as less than responsive and customer-oriented service regarding sewer problems and the clean-out on her property being located in an inaccessible location to city Leon Love, 704 Farmers Road, addressed the City Council indicating his wife asked about the status of using the Alternative School as a Library. workers. Council Member Jose Hernandez asked for a future agenda item identifying the processes or steps to get service requests done when someone calls the Council Member Carl Polnac asked for an update on 111 Fisk Road in service center. Executive Session. EXECUTIVE SESSION 7. The City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 7:48 p.m., with all Council Members except Mayor Pro Tem Brenda Thompson who is not present at tonight's City Council meeting, pursuant to Texas Local Government Code, Section 551.074 to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, or duties of a public officer; to-wit = The City Council reconvened into Regular Session at 8:03 p.m. and considered taking action on matters discussed in closed Executive Session. Consider Resolution No. 20-09, Appointing Sheila Martin to the Position of Motion: Harold Magill made a MOTION and Marshall Green SECONDED to Vote on the motion: Passed unanimously by a vote of 4 ayes-0 nays. Mayor Sexton introduced Ms. Martin's mother and sister; Viola and Glenda City Secretary. City Secretary Effective March 20, 2009. approve Resolution No. 20-09. MacMurray. ADJOURN 8. Adjourn.
