Kirk Stephens made a motion to approve the agenda with no changes or additions. Steven Johannessen, seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. Approval of the Minutes Kirk Stephens made a motion to approve the minutes, from both August 10h and August 151h, 2017. Bonnie Claxton seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. Public Comment There were no public comments. New Business: a. UDO Update Mike Poston gave an update on the County's Unified Development Ordinance. As discussed at the joint kick-off meeting in August, Jackson County has contracted with Stewart INC, an engineering and planning firm from Raleigh, to assist the County in creating a UDO. JM Teague The kick-off meetings and stakeholder interviews have been conducted, as well as a public survey regarding the County's development processes, current ordinances, and the comprehensive plan. Mike read through the survey responses that were compiled by Stewart, and Stewart is currently working on the assessment report, which should be available soon. There will likely be another joint meeting in the next month for the planning board and councils to Engineering will be working with Stewart to complete the project. they can also be accessed on the Planning Department website. discuss the assessment report. UDO updates and documents can be found on the Planning Department website, www.planning.acksonnc.org, under the "Projects and Updates" tab. Informal Discussion: Kevin Jamison and Adam Blythe in the County GIS department have been working on the protected ridges map. Mike anticipates that this will be ready to look at by December 2017 or early 2018. Also, as Appalachian Landslide Consultants nears the end of their Jackson County landslide mapping project, they have been working with the GIS department on a landslide layer. Scott would like the Planning Board to look at the landslide map during an upcoming meeting.
