There was none. #106 Mr. Dombroski presented the Board with aj plaque featuring a signed autograph of World War II fighter ace William R. Beyer, a Danville native who flew 87 combat missions. Capt. Beyer was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 15 Oak Leaf Clusters. Mr. Dombroski purchased the plaque at an auction to donate to the County. It will be displayed in the first-floor hallway ofthe courthouse. Under old business, this was the time and place to open bids for the sale of County vehicles. Mrs. Brandon announced the bids as follows: 2000 International Van - Catawissa Bottling Company, $3,776.59; James Cotner, $5,760.00; Terry Heimbach, $1,251.63; Pete Rickert, $1,900.00; and Gary Luziev, $800.00. On called vote, Ms. Shrawder told the Board that Danville Borough Council has approved a long-term lease of the former Danville Armory. Under the agreement, the Borough will lease part of the armory to ColumbiaMontour Aging Office for the Danville Senior Center for 20 years. The County will provide al lump sum of$180,000.00: in CDBG funds to the Borough as rental payment, which will cut the Aging Office'smonthly rental fee by more than halft to $341.77. That will allow the. Aging office to utilize those savings on other Ms. Shrawder reported she is continuing talks with the Department of Community and Economic Development concerning the Valley Township Municipal Authority project and is working on a survey for the Washies Fire Co. rescue truck application., Under new business, Mr. Ward addressed an issue with recycling in Valley Township. He said the program is a little too successful in that the five bins set out to receive recyclables are continually overflowing, SO people are leaving items propped up against the bins. When a wind comes up, the unsecured materials blow all over the place, sO township employees must retrieve the materials and clean up the mess. Mr. Ward asked anyone who brings materials not to leave them and come back another time ift the bins are full. Firm owner Ted Strosser estimated project fees for his services at $4,650.00, and set aj preliminary estimate of actual repairs at $20,000.00 to $30,000.00. Mr. Ward Mr. Gerst moved to approve ai request from Victim Witness Coordinator Janelle Pratt to set up a collection site at the Courthouse for hygiene products in recognition of Crime Victims' Rights Month.
