Jenkins Community & Cultural Center Members Present: Pamela Holder, Co-Chair, Council Member Randy Lytle, Co-Chair (Arrived 6:08 PM) Gary Daniel, Council Member Victor Foster, Citizen Member Susan Threlkel, Citizen Member Edith Darity, Citizen Member Ella Jones, Citizen Member Mayor Maureen Copelof, Ex-Officio Alex Shepherd, Assistant to the City Manager Tyree Griffin, Community Center Director Staff Present: Guests: Monica Driscoll A. Welcome & Call to Order Co-Chair Pamela Holderw welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 6:04 PM. B. Invocation Ms. Darity offered an invocation. C. Certification of Quorum Quorum was certified by Assistant to the City Manager Alex Shepherd. D. Approval of Agenda Motion by Mr. Foster, seconded by Ms. Jones, to approve the agenda as presented. The motion carried unanimously. E. Approval of Minutes from March 21, 2024. Motion by Ms. Threlkel, seconded by Mr. Foster to approve the minutes of the March 21, 2024 as presented. The motion carried unanimously. F. Juneteenth Celebration Update Mr. Griffin provided an overview and a timeline of events for the) Juneteenth Ms. Darity mentioned that we will need additional time for the youth ifwe: start at Mr. Griffin said we can extend the youth explosion experience until 1 or 2 PM. Ms. Darity agreed, noting that we have three presenters coming and a scavenger Ms. Threlkel said we need to find a way for people to view the exhibits while the Celebration on Saturday, June 15tha atthe Mary C. Jenkins Center. 10:30. AM. hunt planned. youth explosion is going on. Ms. Darity suggested letting out earlier, around 12:30 PM. Ms. Holder asked how people will know to come to the youth explosion. Mr. Lytle said they are using a flyer, advertising on the radio, and WLOS. Ms. Holder asked where the vendors will be located. Mr. Griffin said they will bei in front oft thel basketball court. He added that the music is being coordinated by Mr. Foster. All events will shut down at! 5PM, but the music will continue if people are: still at the event. He mentioned that there will always be someone at the check-in table and that no one person will work there for more than an hour. Ms. Holder asked where the T-shirts came from. Mr. Griffin said the Mary C. Jenkins Board made the T-shirts. They are currently being sold for $19. Ms. Karen Darity is handling the sales, and the last day to orderis tomorrow.
