Approved Conner: Pearsall: Brewer: Mooney: MINUTES BREVARD ABC BOARD July25,2024 The Brevard ABC Board met in regular session on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Members Present: Kevin. Jones, Chair Ron Brewer Carl Mooney Lisa Conner Frank Pearsall Members Absent: Staff Present: Jackie Jarvis, Interim General Manager A. Welcome & Call to Order B. Quorum Board Chair Kevin. Jones called the meeting to order at 8:30a.m. and a quorum wasi noted. C. Approval of Agenda Motion by Mr. Mooney, seconded by Mr. Brewer to approve the agenda as presented. The motion carried unanimously. D. Approval of Minutes 1. Minutes from Regular Session - June 27, 2024 Mr. Mooney noted that on page 31 the total rent should say "$128,000 pery year". Motion by Mr. Brewer, seconded by Mr. Mooney to approve the minutes of the Regular Session meeting on. June 27, 2024, as amended. The motion carried unanimously. E. New Business 1. Manager's Report/ /S Sales Update Ms. Jarvis reported that the accountant has corrected the financials to correctly reflect payments to the City for utilities and for profit distribution. The Board requested that the utilities line item be further broken down to include separate categories for gas, electric, telephone and water/sewer. Mr. Mooney and Mr. Jones also suggested that given iti is the beginning of a new fiscal year, it would be a good idea to review all of the categories. In response to Mr. Mooney's question regarding the maintenance agreements line item, Ms. Jarvis explained that the contract with Carolina Data for the Ms. Jarvis reported that Terry Andersen will be doing the annual audit the week of August Mr. Mooney noted that the profit for June was 2.15% and for the year is 3.27% and wondered if we would get back to 5%. Mr. Jones said he wants to talk with the auditors regarding our profit as he has a question about how the sales tax affects our profit. Ms. Jarvis said she has called Brevard College regarding their request for funding, but she Ms. Jarvis distributed copies of the Legislative Report of budget bills and legislation that affects ABC operations, including a summary of SB5271 that was passed by the House and computer equipment and software system is $10,000 per quarter. 5th. is still awaiting a response from them. Senate and has been sent to the Governor. F. Unfinished Business 1. Lease at Store 1 Ms. Jarvis reported that she has talked with Perry to inquire whether he would be willing to sell the building. He said the business is at family enterprise and theyl have noi intention of selling, but if they decided to sell, they would sell the entire 5 acres and would not break it up. He did say that asl long as he is living, he will renew the lease, but if he passes away, his sons would want to sell it. Ms. Jarvis said she asked him if he would consider extending the current lease now and he said he would look ati it. The current lease expires in 2029. Mr. Jones said he would be looking for a! 5to 10-year extension. 2. Sales for Store 2 Ms. Jarvis provided a sales summary for Store 2 for calendar years 2022, 2023, and 2024 to date. Mr. Mooney questioned whether the store is making a profit after expenses for the lease, payroll and utilities; or is Store 1 carrying Store 2? He noted it is important to know that before renewing the lease for Store 2. It was noted that the lease expires in February, 2025. Ms. Jarvis will provide more information for the Board's review. 3. Review and Approve Financial Reports from May and June 2024 The financial reports for May and June 2024 were reviewed and circulated for signatures.
