Percy Smith, who works hard at keeping our town looking great, has installed new US flags along the two main roads in Onley fori the start of the summer season. Ify you: see him say hello! We all want If you are installing a pool, spa, or hot tubi for yourself or family, please be aware that these should be located no closer than 101 feet to any adjoining property line. Any swimming pool with a depth of24 inches or more, whether in ground or above ground, fixed or movable, shall be enclosed by fencing at least 51 feet high with openings not exceeding 3 inches in width and al lockable gate. Outdoor hot tubs You will be required to get a Zoning Permit if you need to construct a fence. Other things you might need az Zoning Permit for are construction of a deck, new roof, room additions, or adding a secondary structure like a shed or garage. You can print a zoning application from the town website, www.townotonley.org. Bring your completed permit along with any required information and payment (we now take credit cards) into the town office. We also have applications here at the office. Please call Ify you keep backyard chickens, they also require the purchase of an annual Permit and must be kept in an enclosed (top and sides) chicken coop. We have had complaints of chickens running at large. Inoperable vehicles, trailers, or semi-trailers must be removed from your property. We consider it an inoperable vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer when it is not currently registered or inspected, noti in operating condition, or partially ori totally disassembled (no tires, wheels, engine, or other parts needed tor run) for a period of more than 60 days. Onley Police Department  Good things are still happeningi in the Town of Onley. Last year at this time we were talking about the improvements to the police department and things are stilli improving. Our in-car computers have been installed and we are in the process of getting them online with the Virginia Supreme Court SO that your police department will be much more efficient and taking a major step towards going as' paper free" as we can. We are also getting ready toi install in-car cameras to provide our officers and the public with While were talking about Spring, let's keep our neighbors in mind when it comes to your pets again. All pets need to be kept in your yard, on a leash, or under your direct control, as defined in our Dog Ordinance and our Domesticated Fowl Ordinance. ORA Pool Membership  The ORA (Onley Recreation Association) and the' Town of Onley have once again entered into an agreement giving Town ofOnley residents a 50% discount on pool memberships.
