Call to Order  Amy Guinn Eddie Martin Oscar Sellers Abbie Covington Maurice Stuart Matthew Christian HeatherHawks  Mayor Guinn called the meeting to order at 4 pm.  2. Adoption of Agenda  Council Member Covington motioned to adopt the Agenda; Council Member Stuart provided the  second. The motion passed unanimously. 3. Interim City Manager- Decision  Council MemberCovington stated she and Council Member Stuart spoke with Lane Bailey viaz zoom last week. During the zoom, Lane Bailey stated hei feltl like his job would be to keep the city on the current path until wel hire aj permanent City Manager. Cityl Member Covington stated he comes highly recommendedwith. morei than 30 years experience. Council Member Stuart agreed stating Mr. Bailey is Council Member Sellers asked if the position for Cityl Manager had been posted stating het feels we: are moving toit fast. He also stated we should interview more candidates before making a decision because Council Member Covington made ar motion to extend the contract to Lane Bailey for Interim City Mayor Guinn stated City Manager Christian willl be leaving soon and we need an interim. She assured Council Member Sellers that we would take our time during the interview process fora permanent city  an experienced City Manager which could help us in various ways.  the proposal is al lot of money.  Manager, the motion was seconded by Council Member! Stuart.  manager.    Council Member Covington: stated Lane Bailey would only be working three days a week Tuesday, Wednesdaya and7 Thursday. She alsor mentioned! hev would be available for calls on days! hei isn'there atr no extra charge, and he would come back to Hamlet int the event of an emergency ifr necessary. Council Member Sellers asked City Manager Christian if he was going to post his resignation to the  paper.  City Manager Christian stated he would do what Council asked him to do.  Council Member Covington stated we needi to come up withajobdescription because the position  would have to be advertised fora month.  Council Member Sellers stated the ad has to run 30 calendar days.  Council Member Covington stated todayi is May 20th and City Manager Christian willl be gone ini two  weeks by the time we finish running the ad. Council Member Sellers said, "this is Bullshit." Council Member Covington said that wasn'tvery polite.  Council Member Sellers said he has heard worse from Council Member Covington.  Mayor Guinn stated we have a motion and a second. The motion passed. 3to 1. Council Members, Martin, Covington, and Stuart voted int favor of approving the Interim City Manager contract with Lane City Manager Christian asked if Council would like himi to prepare a draft ofa a job description for consideration. He recommended Mayor Guinn, or the City Attorney receive applications to maintain confidentiality during the screening process. Council Member Martin agreed on Mayor Guinn should  Bailey. Council Member Sellers opposed.  applications for City Manager. 4. Motioni to Adjourn unanimously at 4:09 pm.  Council Membersuarimotomedtos adjourn, seconded by Council Member Martin.
