WEST HOMESTEAD BOROUGH Council Meeting April 13, 2021 Minutes Call to Order Vice-President David Harhai called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm via Zoom. Mr. Harhai stated that an Executive meeting was held prior to the Council Meeting on March 9th and no action was taken. Police Department: Chief Deasy For the month of March 2021: 115 calls, 13 mutual aids assist, 1 felony, 39 misdemeanors, 4 citations, 6 arrests, and 15 prisoners held for Homestead. Recovered one body in the River by the Marriott and one bomb threat in Zone 1. January and February were very busy months, March seems to have settled There were 4 fires, multiple car accidents and a bomb threat. There will be an open house from 10-1 on August 14+h, piggyback on Community Days. COMMITTEE REPORTS Community Affairs; Barb Ferson, Chair Clean up day will be May 1st. We will finalize cleanup day. Flyers are finished and will be posted around the Borough. There will be a ZOOM meeting March 19th at 5:30pm. We will be discussing the summer recreation program. Dave is going to contact' WPK2, Christian Broadcast, 98.3 FM. They will set up a booth and play music; live remotes; advertise of the radio station. There will be food trucks. Public Works: Frank Guzzi, Chair (Bill read) Monthly duties for February were read for Public Works: standard weekly activities, maintenance, not much inclement weather; prepping for high winds and cleanup. Talk on Spring cleanup, topsoil, flowers, and landscaping. Getting estimates to replace roof on the Public Works building. Still working on Salt Bin Waterfront still needs to tidy up. Trash info from February: 6 trucks to the dump, 71.3 tons, 164 gallons of fuel Recycling; Ashley Cain, Chair Happy news: Recycling will begin!! All bins have been delivered; a few were missed.
