WEST HOMESTEAD BOROUGH Council Meeting January 10, 2023 Minutes Call to Order President Baran called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. REPORTS: Public Comment on Agenda Items Engineer Mark Brashear Working on the sewer system, progress. The Repair/R Reconstruction of the Storm Sewer between Breezewood Drive and Schauffler Drive is out for bid. Bids will be opened in February. Solicitor Stanley Lederman Mayor John Dindak Nothing this month. No report. Borough Manager Bill Etherington We have ended the year with $443K in General Fund and Escrow, estimated $400K. Fire Chief John Dindak-absent (Bill McLaughlin spoke) End of year report will be given next month. We had a busy December. There was the Boot Drive, Light up Night, Parade and Santa From Friday to Monday, we have had twenty-one calls. There was also a house fire in Run. Munhall. Steel Rivers Council of Governments: Ashly Cain, Chair They are doing house cleaning for the New Year. A Manager and Secretary meeting will be held on January 19th. Steel Valley Enterprise Zone: Dave Harhai They are going to reestablish goals and objectives. Great group of people, and the future looks good. Last year to date, there were 2180 calls. Handbook has been completed. The Code of Conduct has been completed. We will push through 2023 strong. Police Chief Charles Rozzo The Standard Operating Procedures have been completed. Baldwin EMS Chief Todd Plunkett December Report was read. Emergency Management Director Dan Churma We are ready for another year; all updates are current. Last year went unscathed. Street Commissioner Glenn Guckes Christmas decorations will be taken down this week. There is 100 tons of salt on hand and will order 50 tons more. We have been cleaning up vacant lots. Progress. Public Works: Bill McLaughlin, Chair Ithas been a busy December. Bill E and Bill M will be getting together with Public Works about setting goals. Sewer Management: Ashley Cain, Chair Ino one year, a lot of progress has been made. Last year they mapped catch basins, storm sewers and sanitary sewers. Public Comment on Non-Agenda Items Bill McLaughlin, 3461 Pinewood Drive: Steel Valley School Board will be holding a community meeting tomorrow night at Park Elementary gym at 7pm. This Community Meeting is to become more Aconcerned parent with two kids. Things must change on Walnut, Cherry, and Sarah. Concerned with the blight and public safety. Problems need to be addressed. connected with the school district and the community. Nicole Demsey, Walnut Street: Jen Robson: Garbage is on the hillside and going to her property.
