BOROUGH OF WEST HOMESTEAD Council Meeting February 13, 2024 Minutes Call to Order President Ashley Cain called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call Present: Ms. Ferson, Mr. Fonos, Mr. Harhai, Mr. Karafa, Mr. McLaughlin, Ms. Nikolas, Ms. Cain. Also in attendance: Mayor Joe Baran, Solicitors Stanley and Michael Lederman, Borough President Ashley Cain: Council met prior to the meeting to discuss a legal matter. Engineer Mark Brashear, and Borough Secretary Donna McMichael. Public Comment on Agenda Items No comments. Pashek-MTR: Sarah and Alice were here to talk about the West Homestead Riverfront Park. Apublic meeting was held in September 2023. REPORTS Engineer Mark Brashear 10% progress on the sewers. Next project will be Howard Street and West 7th Avenue sewer separation. Solicitor Michael Lederman Mayor Joseph Baran Tonight, we will be approving 1 (one) proposed Ordinance and 2 (two) Resolutions. A"Night at the Races" fundraiser with West Homestead VFD and Munhall Central VFD was held. Very good turnout. Police Chief Charles Rozzo The police report was given for the month of January 2024. Sunday night there was a DUI roving detail on lower 837. There were 3 (three) DUI arrests and 1 (one) stolen handgun found. Bill McLaughlin stated: Excellent Job!!! Fire Chief John Dindak Report was given for the month of January 2024: 39 calls and 8 fires. Alot of gas leaks and carbon monoxide calls in the Manor/Village. Lynn Nikolas is a hard worker, and we would like to publicly thank her for all the help on the Night at the Races fundraiser. Legislation 1. Accept minutes from the Council meetings, as written, for January 2, 2024: Reorganization, January 2, 2024: Caucus/workshop, and January 9, 2024: Legislative. Motion: Mr. Harhai Second: Mr. Karafa All voted in favor of the motion. 2. Approve and ratify all bills paid and to be paid for the month of February 2024. Public Comment on Non-Agenda Items 1.Margaret Proviano Clements, West gth Avenue: Trees on West gth Avenue are hanging over 2.Joe Visnesky, 1069-1075 Forest Avenue: Asked for consideration for parking of vehicles at Mr. Lederman told him this was a separate issue and a new application for Conditional Use and there has not been any improvement with the new owners. 1069 Forest Avenue from 10 (ten) to 13 (thirteen) or 15 (fifteen) cars. must be submitted.
