WEST HOMESTEAD BOROUGH Council Meeting January 9, 2024 Minutes Call to Order President Ashley Cain called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. Judge Campbell administered the oath of office to Christopher Makosey and Craig Martin. President Ashley Cain stated prior to the meeting, there was a personnel and real estate discussion. No comments. REPORTS Public Comment on Agenda Items Engineer Mark Brashear There is a lot going on with the sewer system. Absent Police Chief Charles Rozzo The police report was given for the month of December and year end. There is additional manpower and we ae fully staffed. Fire Chief John Dindak Year-end report was given. Training is coming in the new year. Thanks to Council for their support. The addition is 93% completed. Bill McLaughlin: Thanks to Chief Dindak, nice job. Baldwin EMS Report for December: 43 calls this month and 569 calls this year to date. The response time was 6.6 minutes. Training was held with Police and Fire. Reminder: mailings went out again. Bill McLaughlin: There was a 20% return, we need to increase. EMS, Dan Churma 2023 finished on a good note. More flooding issues with the weather. We have 2 (two) more deputies. Let us move forward in 2024, Thanks to Council for their support. Public Works Director, Glenn Guckes The first big snow was on Saturday, and everything was ready. There are 3 (three) new signs in the Borough. They are at Laurel Drive and Forest Avenue, Laurel Hill and' West Run Road, and Fieldstone Drive by Calhoun Park. We will be taking down the Christmas decorations. Dave Harhai: Thanks to Rich Mader for allowing us to use his power for our Christmas display. Steel Rivers Council of Governments: Ashley Cain Steel Valley Enterprise Zone: Dave Harhai No report. There will be a meeting on Monday. Nothing to report. Ashley: Approved Workers comp and commended the 2024 Banner Community. COMMITTEE REPORTS Community Affairs: John Karafa, Chair Progress. Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday at 3:30 pm. Personnel: Ashley Cain, Chair Met in Executive session. Property: Dave Harhai, Chair Meetings will be held the second Tuesday at 4:00 pm, every other month. The next meeting is Tuesday, February 13th at 4:00 pm. Public Safety: Bill McLaughlin, Chair Capital Improvement: Ray Fonos, Chair Meetings will be held on the second Tuesday at 5:00 pm. Absent.
